Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, New York’s socialist darling, is feeling a bit burned out and has decided to take a little time off to get some ‘self-care.’
“I am starting a week of self-care where I am taking the week off and taking care of me,” she said in an Instagram video. “I don’t know how to do that though, so I would appreciate any and all self-care tips.”
‘I don’t know how to do that’ seems to be a running theme for New York’s congresswoman-elect.
Here’s a self-help tip – use the week off to cure your desire for socialism by reading up on history and current events.
Ocasio-Cortez whines that she can’t do yoga
Ocasio-Cortez also complained that becoming a political star on the left has ruined her once-comfortable lifestyle, even lamenting the loss of cherished yoga classes.
“Before the campaign, I used to practice yoga 3-4x/week, eat nutritiously, read and write for leisure,” she wrote on Instagram. “As soon as everything kicked up, that all went out the window. I went from doing yoga and making wild rice and salmon dinners to eating fast food for dinner and falling asleep in my jeans and makeup.”
The soon to be congresswoman still managed to preempt criticism of the break. On Twitter, she wrote how people shame others for getting a “face mask while financially stressed.”
Ocasio-Cortez famously complained that she couldn’t afford to rent an apartment, but now she’s off to indulge in yoga classes.
I’m taking a few days to take care of myself before what is sure to be an eventful term.
For working people, immigrants, & the poor, self-care is political – not because we want it to be, but bc of the inevitable shaming of someone doing a face mask while financially stressed./1 https://t.co/EWdWFmPwet

A profile in the New York Times this past summer noted that “the Boston University graduate” from the Bronx “has a boyfriend and likes to do yoga and write essays in her spare time.”
Not any more it would seem. Oh, the sacrifices she has made!
Is a week going to be enough time for Ocasio-Cortez?
The obvious question here is – is there enough ‘self-care’ in the world to jumpstart this socialist’s brain? Is a week truly enough?
She might need it. In the past month alone, everyone’s favorite socialist has committed these epic failures of intelligence:
- Claimed there are three chambers of Congress.
- Compared the plight of the migrant caravan mob to Jews fleeing the Holocaust.
- Threatened Donald Trump Jr. with a subpoena after he mocked socialism.
- Called four-star Marine general John Kelly a coward.
That’d be an impressive resume for a gaffe machine the likes of Joe Biden – and she managed to do all of that in one month’s time!
“I keep things raw and honest on here since I believe public servants do a disservice to our communities by pretending to be perfect,” Ocasio-Cortez said of her need for a break.
Nobody – and I mean nobody – will ever accuse her of pretending to be perfect. Take all the time you need.
