Judicial Watch Reminds Us: Obama Can Still be Impeached

WASHINGTON, DC - NOVEMBER 24: U.S. President Barack Obama makes a statement following the announcement of the grand jury's decision in the shooting death of unnamed black teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, at the James Brady Press Briefing Room of the White House November 24, 2014 in Washington, DC. On Sunday, President Donald Trump tweeted “I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes – and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!”

After Trump’s tweet, a Trump campaign email was sent out with the subject line “WORSE than Watergate.” The email contains a petition for the DOJ to examine the behavior of Obama’s FBI and DOJ, to see if they infiltrated the Trump campaign.

If they did, it would indeed be worse than Watergate, and could even lead to a post-presidency impeachment.

According to BizPacReview:

Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton piggybacked Trump’s tweet with a significant reminder: It’s not too late to impeach Obama.

What good would impeaching Obama do? One benefit is that it would keep Obama from occupying any future federal role if he was part of a spying scheme against a political opponent.

The main benefit though would mainly be symbolic – an acknowledgment that the Obama spying scandal was real the entire time (unlike the accusations of Russian collusion). (RELATED: House Calls For Impeachment Of Barack Obama… It’s Official!).

Attempting an impeachment of the former President would only be possible if there were evidence that Obama personally ordered the spying. Trump may have hinted as much in a tweet yesterday, when he wrote “The Wall Street Journal asks (in the context of spying on Trump) “WHERE IN THE WORLD WAS BARACK OBAMA?” A very good question!”

A group of conservatives in the House of Representatives is set to demand that the Justice Department launch a second special counsel investigation, and the resources of a special counsel could help uncover truths in this spying scandal that regular investigators wouldn’t be able to.

Even though he’s out of office, should House Republicans seek to impeach President Obama? Share your thoughts below!
