Update: Swalwell Lashes Out After Learning McCarthy Will Remove Eric Swalwell, Ilhan Omar, and Adam Schiff from Committees

UPDATE: House Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) confirmed his, Adam Schiff (D-CA), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) impending removal from key committees in a tweet on Tuesday.

Swalwell tweeted, “#BREAKING Rep. @ByronDonalds admits on @thereidout that @SpeakerMcCarthy
is kicking me, @RepAdamSchiff, and @Ilhan off our committees purely out of vengeance.”

Swalwell’s tweet confirms two things. McCarthy is making good on his promise. Byron Donalds is definitely under his skin.

–Resume Original Story–

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told reporters Monday that he plans to remove Democrats Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell, and Ilhan Omar from committees on which they previously served.

Schiff and Swalwell both served on the House Intelligence Committee, with the former serving as Chair. Swalwell also had a role on the Homeland Security Committee. Omar served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

McCarthy particularly pointed to Swalwell, who has been accused of ties to a Chinese spy, as being a security liability on the Intel and Homeland Security committees.

“Swalwell can’t get a security clearance in the private sector. I’m not going to give him a government security clearance,” McCarthy declared.

He continued, “Schiff has lied to the American public.”

Why Should McCarthy Remove Swalwell, Schiff, Omar From Committees?

A bombshell report in 2020 indicated that a woman by the name of Christine Fang (aka Fang Fang) “took part in fundraising activity for Rep. Swalwell’s 2014 re-election campaign” and interacted with the Congressman “at multiple events over the course of several years.”

Fang had allegedly served as a Chinese Intelligence operative with China’s Ministry of State Security.

There has been speculation that the relationship was sexual, something Swalwell has not specifically denied. So it would seem an affair with a spy from a hostile communist country would be compromising.

At any rate, so long, Eric.

Omar has been accused of funneling campaign cash to her husband and has a consistent history of anti-Semitic remarks, and in 2019 the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported on documents raising questions as to whether she previously married her own brother as a means to “skirt immigration laws.”

And she equated actions taken by the United States and Israel to those perpetrated by the Taliban and Hamas.

As such, her role on the House Foreign Affairs Committee should have been questioned long ago.

So long, Ilhan.

And Schiff, of course, is a notorious leaker who has repeatedly claimed insider knowledge on matters involving Russia collusion, only to be ultimately proven a liar.

He used and abused his position as one of authority to promote false accusations against former President Donald Trump.

Schiff, you may recall, was also duped by comedians posing as a Ukrainian member of Parliament promising dirt on Trump, even going so far as to arrange for his own staff to collect “classified” material for the FBI.

Furthermore, Schiff has been caught fabricating quotes by Trump in the past and doctoring text messages presented as evidence during the January 6 select committee hearings.

That guy doesn’t belong on the Intel Committee, let alone serving as the Chair.

So long, Adam.

Promise Made, Promise Kept?

McCarthy’s vow to oust Schiff, Swalwell, and Omar from their previous committee assignments is simply a follow-through on a promise he made before being named Speaker.

McCarthy told Breitbart News last January that the move is based in part on a trend the Democrats themselves started.

“The Democrats have created a new thing where they’re picking and choosing who can be on committees,” McCarthy explained. “Never in the history [of Congress] have you had the majority tell the minority who can be on committee.”

Democrats, you may recall, removed Republican House members Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar from their committees, while former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to seat two pro-Trump congressmen chosen by McCarthy on the select committee investigating the Capitol riot.

They voted to censure Gosar and remove him from the Oversight and Reform and Natural Resources Committees over a parody cartoon video. A parody cartoon.

Democrats also stripped Greene (R-GA) from the Education and Labor Committee as well as the Budget Committee over ill-advised social media posts made prior to her election to office.

McCarthy viewed both circumstances as overreach and vowed to give both individuals their committee assignments back with Republicans in control of the House.

“They’ll have committees,” he vowed, even suggesting “they may have better committee assignments.”

Democrats will be virtually apoplectic to see Greene and Gosar replacing Schiff, Swalwell, or Omar on various committees.
