New York Times Deletes Tweet Diminishing September 11 Attacks

The New York Times went full Ilhan Omar, diminishing the September 11 attacks as being carried out by a bunch of nameless, faceless, inanimate airplanes.

Eighteen years later and they still can’t name the enemy.

In the early morning hours of the anniversary commemorating the September 11 attacks, the Times posted a rather curious description of what happened that day on social media.

“18 years have passed since airplanes took aim and brought down the World Trade Center,” they wrote. “Today, families will once again gather and grieve at the site where more than 2000 people died.”

It was accompanied by a story of victims of the 9/11 attacks being remembered at Ground Zero.

Airplanes took aim? Airplanes?!

Always the liberal mindset that people are not responsible for their actions. It’s the gun that kills people, not the deranged person who pulls the trigger. Now it’s the airplanes that carried out the attacks of 9/11, not the radical Islamic extremists who aimed them at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania.

Following a steady stream of criticism, the Times was forced to delete the tweet.

“We’ve deleted an earlier tweet to this story and have edited for clarity,” they posted. “The story has also been updated.”

The report now reads:

Eighteen years have passed since terrorists commandeered airplanes and the twin towers of the World Trade Center were brought down.

The paper of record’s description seems reminiscent of the insensitive comments made by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) when describing the September 11 attacks.

Speaking at a fund-raising event hosted by the Los Angeles chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Omar claimed the organization was formed in response to Islamophobia’s rise following the September 11 attacks.

“CAIR was founded after 9/11, because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” she said.

The New York Post hammered Omar over the comments.

Democrats defended her, including Rep. Jerry Nadler, whose district encompasses the lower west side of Manhattan came to her defense, while fellow anti-American Rep. Rashida Tlaib called her critics ‘racist.’

The New York Times admitted their mistake in trivializing the 9/11 attacks. Omar never will.
