A new report from Axios on Sunday revealed how eagerly it appeared then-President Donald Trump wanted to end America’s various wars abroad, and how unelected bureaucrats throughout the government worked to thwart that effort.
To say the least.

On November 9, 2020, Axios reported that, “John McEntee, one of Donald Trump’s most-favored aides, handed retired Army Col. Douglas Macgregor a piece of paper with a few notes scribbled on it.”
On that piece of paper were orders that would have changed the course of American history.

Trump Orders Full Withdrawal From America’s Overseas Conflicts
“He explained: ‘This is what the president wants you to do,'” according to Axios.
The note reportedly read as follows.
1. Get us out of Afghanistan.
2. Get us out of Iraq and Syria.
3. Complete the withdrawal from Germany.
4. Get us out of Africa.
Trump went further, sending a memo to Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller:
“All U.S. military forces were to be withdrawn from Somalia by Dec. 31, 2020. All U.S. forces were to be withdrawn from Afghanistan by Jan. 15, 2021.”

It is understandable that some of the generals, even those favored by Trump and who might have agreed with him on withdrawal, thought this might have been a lot to accomplish in a relatively limited time.
Axios reports that many of them were “appalled” by Trump’s process.

But all of them should have been truthful with their Commander-in-Chief.
According to Axios, some were not. And the subterfuge began much earlier.
“Many would rally to push back — sometimes openly and in coordination, at other times so discreetly that top Trump administration officials had to turn to classified intercepts from the National Security Agency for clues.”
The Axios report is rife with anecdotes about how unelected bureaucrats in the national security apparatus thwarted even basic attempts by the Trump administration to gather information.

As former advisor Steve Bannon described his attempts to get basic information about the two-decade war in Afghanistan:
“They literally would not give you any information. And the information they gave you was bullshit. In every presentation, they say you’re 18 months away from turning the war around. Always. You’re always 18 months away.”
Outgoing US Syria envoy Jim Jeffrey (of neocon WINEP) says, "We were always playing shell games to not make clear to our leadership how many troops we had there" in northeastern Syria.

Deep State Lied About Syria Withdrawal
Amid Trump’s efforts to get American troops back home – which, admittedly, Trump vacillated on several times, always based on the advice of bureaucrats (many of which he himself appointed) – there were overt instances of resistance.
The news outlet reported, “Some senior officials also deliberately deceived Trump. ‘What Syria withdrawal? There was never a Syria withdrawal,’ Jim Jeffrey, Trump’s special envoy to Syria and the anti-ISIS coalition, told Defense One in a post-election interview in November 2020.”
Jeffrey even admitted they were playing “shell games” with the president.

Axios reported, “We were always playing shell games to not make clear to our leadership how many troops we had there,’ he said, adding that the real number of troops in northeast Syria is ‘a lot more than’ the roughly 200 Trump initially agreed to leave there in 2019.”
So think about it: The President of the United States who constitutionally is the Commander-in-Chief gave an order and some of his top officials now openly admit they were lying to their boss in the Oval Office.
Now read Axios’ description of bureaucrats lying to the elected President: “It was a stunning admission. But it was one that reflected the mindset of some of the national security leaders and savvy bureaucrats who had repeatedly thwarted the commander in chief’s demands over four years.”

Just How Deep Is The Deep State?
There is no longer a question of whether or not a “Deep State” exists. But only, how deep is it?
This Axios report indicates that its depth is considerable.
It is true that Trump’s directive came only only one week after Trump lost the general election to Joe Biden and he would be leaving the White House 10 weeks later. The timeline is worth debating.
It’s also true that many of the officials were appointed by Trump himself. But where was Trump supposed to find national security leaders, if not for the Pentagon, and people with decades of experience?
That some officials intentionally undermined or simply ignored the president’s orders is not at question. That is not how a functioning democratic republic works.
Who is really in charge of the American government if not the elected President?
Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.

Republicans Running With Scissors
Trump Orders Republicans to Block Investigation Into the Insurrection He Caused
Here’s a shock—Donald Trump doesn’t want to hear any more talk of an investigation into the insurrection that was carried out by his biggest fans right after he whipped them up into a frenzy on Jan. 6. On Wednesday, the House is set to vote on legislation that would set up a 9/11-style bipartisan commission to investigate the MAGA riot at the U.S. Capitol. But, on Tuesday night, Trump ordered his Republican minions in Congress to resist, writing in a statement that his allies in the House and the Senate should not fall for the “Democrat trap” of backing the commission. He wrote: “It is just more partisan unfairness and unless the murders, riots, and fire bombings in Portland, Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago, and New York are also going to be studied, this discussion should be ended immediately.” Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has fallen in behind Trump and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy in telling colleagues that he will not be supporting the commission as things stand.
A Bipartisan Committee – What Have You Got To Lose?
House Minority Leader and Kevin McCarthy announced Wednesday that he would vote no on Thursday morning to a bill to investigate the Jan. 6 invasion of the Capitol that had been negotiated, under close supervision, by Republican Rep. John Katko, a trusted ally.
The day before the House vote, McCarthy surprised his caucus by citing the proposed panel’s "political misdirection,” "counterproductive nature,” and its supposed failure to examine "interrelated forms of political violence," for his abrupt 11th hour rejection. In other words, McCarthy is trying to save his neck, and Trump’s, by attempted murder of the 1/6 Commission.
It’s attempted because McCarthy might not succeed. The whitewash of Jan. 6 that Liz Cheney warned of could be foiled by Democrats if their slim majority holds or they’re joined by those nine Republicans who voted against McCarthy in favor of resuming the electoral college count after the riot. That number includes Cheney, who no longer has a title but does have a vote.
I figured you, being the totalitarian, deceptive leftist that you are, would give respect to a man, Alinsky, who dedicated his book, "Rules For Radicals", to Lucifer, the "original" radical, and bringer of chaos and death to what could have been….Utopia. And you should know ALL about "humor", pal, because you are an absolute joke, albeit a bad one…and feel free to "quote" me (What is it with you and your quotes anyway?). And remember this "quote"?…"The TRUTH shall set you free". Well, that leaves you out of the game. I imagine Saul, now suffering eternally in hell under his "mentor", Lucifer, is having second thoughts about his belief system, seeing how there's NO A/C, or cold water down there….ever.
"Humor is essential to a successful tactician, for the most potent weapons known to mankind are satire and ridicule." – Saul Alinsky
Well, loser, I see you're at it again with your TIHSLLUB! You're just too stupid to realize your efforts are futile. The only thing you do succeed at is getting DISLIKE after DISLIKE after DISLIKE after…After your vile cartoon about Dan Crenshaw, as far as I'm concerned, you have no compassion for others, and the pain they're going through…but I should expect nothing less from cruel, evil people. Now this is where you snidely laugh and praise Satan, or Karl Marx…your choice (but there's no difference).
Trumpers like to dish it out but can't take it!
Did you see his cartoon horribly making fun of Dan Crenshaw losing his eye? I didn't think even he would be so vile as to do such a sick thing. Sad, but this is what radical leftism is…
No one ever said Third World countries had a plethora of Mensa members throughout the population. Sounds like ewe should move there, cud-chewer…seems to be ewer speed from a mental perspective.
Progressives Won Chile’s Election. And They Won Big
Over the weekend, the people of Chile voted in a historic election to select the members of a body tasked with drafting a new Constitution to replace the one written in 1980 under the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.
The final tally dealt a severe blow to the followers of General Pinochet, many of whom make up the center-right and right-wing coalition Chile Vamos, backed by the current president, Sebastián Piñera, which won just 37 of the 155 seats for the Constitutional Convention. Chileans, especially the young, also rejected the traditional center-left parties as insufficiently responsive to people’s craving for a more egalitarian society and overly compromised with the status quo.
The victors were a group of parties of a new-left coalition, Apruebo Dignidad (I Approve Dignity), which elected 28 representatives, and numerous independent candidates who had been active in the ongoing protests calling for reforms in education, health and pensions, and an end to the neoliberal economic model that has dominated Chile for almost half a century.
Venceremos!
Evil is of massive proportion and insidious. Evil will reign for a short while, currently, but will eventually fall and righteousness will prevail, Amen.
I disagree with the characterization of the Generals as Deep State. the report notes that President Trump appointed Generals to positions that were personally invested in the region from long terms of service there.
I am too, most Americans who lived through the last gas lines after the 1973 war and Iran's turning off refined gas with OPEC, through the SDI and finally the collapse of the wall and end of Cold War or did it just get Colder? Desert Shield Desert Storm, 9-11, the longest wars in uS history that had minimal US casualties considering the duration, and still America is having difficulties getting Veterans problems focused and properly addressed, would have to say the USA has a collective conscience when it comes to the ME. And in the style of the DNC they have once again attempted to divide America by making Anti-Semitism justified because Jews in Israel are accused of being racist and apartheid. The radical Islamist terrorist organization Hamas could not get as much print if not for the DNC news corps. Over 2,000 missiles fired at Tel Aviv to murder innocent women and children is the cost of retreating in the face of Islamist extremism and it won't stop at the Eastern end of the Med.
President Trump did a magnificent job considering how many traitors were after all he did. Trump did more for our country than any other President. We need him back and we need all those traitors out.
We must get rid of these people They must be ran out of any power position or any government or military positions
It is certainly not Joe.
When they know that there won't be any consequences, they know that they can get away with it.. Traitors should be executed.. Where's Hunter?
In another country those in deep State would have been executed by a firing squad in public, you obey the Commander of Chief you don't betray him!
"Who is really in charge of the American government if not the elected President?"
Excellent question because Biden was never in charge of todays government…especially signing EOs without knowing it.
It makes total sense the President was ignored. The NSA, CIA, FBI, DOJ all ignore subpoenas from Congress, just ignore them and nothing happens. Our government, Democrats and Republicans are totally corrupt, totally.
Notice something suspicious about how all this information is JUST NOW coming into the public domain. Why now ? Are we being feed another lie or the truth ? These news organizations have been playing a shell game also. I do believe President Trump was lied too as we were. Then these same individuals were passing lies about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. I do recall President Eisenhower talking about these unelected bureaucrats during his finally speech to the nation in 1961.
I can't think of a president in modern history who had to fight a political war on as many fronts as Pres. Trump. It's a miracle he did as much good as he did when half the people who claimed to be his allies were hiding daggers behind their backs the entire time.
I always believed in the words of the song, "The wrong shall fail, the right prevail…" as axiomatic. Now I'm starting to wonder if we're past the point of no return and the wrong has already prevailed. If "wrong" is now seen as "right" by too many Americans, we're lost.
WHat a disgrace this US is to see and hear about the Military ! and how they ignored our President! WHat a terrible terrible thing. It is surprising after all the recognition and gratefulness our President gives our serivice men the leaders should hang their heads in shame!
