Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is pondering calling the Democrat Party’s bluff and bringing forth a vote on the ill-conceived ‘Green New Deal,’ The Washington Post’s Robert Costa reports.
Top Democrat contenders for the White House in 2020 jumped at the chance to endorse the proposal in hopes of energizing their wildly radical, environmentalist base.
But they did so without truly analyzing the plan touted by New York socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The Green New Deal seeks to attain a goal of “net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for all communities and workers.”
Had they read the details, Senate Democrats would know it guarantees economic security even for people who are “unwilling” to work and pushes to eliminate air travel within 10 years, amongst other fantastically impossible dreams.
Despite these leftist pipe dreams, Democrat Senators such as Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, Cory Booker, and Bernie Sanders all enthusiastically endorsed the plan.
McConnell, knowing full well they can retract on that endorsement down the line, may be looking to get them on record either committing to Ocasio-Cortez’s unrealistic plan or letting their base know they weren’t serious in the first place by voting against it.
Pure genius.

Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, called the plan “a socialist manifesto that lays out a laundry list of government giveaways, including guaranteed food, housing, college, and economic security even for those who refuse to work.”

Called Their Bluff on Abolishing ICE
McConnell’s move, should he commit, would be similar to House GOP leaders who, after three Democrat lawmakers introduced legislation to ‘abolish ICE,’ brought the bill to a vote.

Urging Democrats to commit to the Green New Deal seems to have support from President Trump as well.

Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has openly mocked the Green New Deal, giving it a new nickname.
“The green dream or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they’re for it right?” she said.
If McConnell lives up to his nickname then we’ll truly see if ‘they’re for it.’
The NRCC urged Pelosi to do the same and give “the radical socialists controlling her caucus exactly what they want” – a vote.
“The NRCC urges Nancy Pelosi to join Leader McConnell in bringing this important resolution to the floor,” Spokesman Michael McAdams said. “The Green New Deal will abolish cow farting, airplanes and your home as it currently exists, and voters deserve to know who supports it.”
Expose the extremists for what they are. Make them vote.
