Mitch McConnell: Get Vaccinated Or Lockdowns Are Coming Back – It’s ‘Not Complicated’

Mitch McConnell urged Americans to get vaccinated against COVID-19 suggesting not doing so amidst a rise in positive cases could lead the country back to draconian lockdown orders.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell urged Americans to get vaccinated against COVID-19, suggesting not doing so amidst a rise in positive cases could lead the country back to draconian lockdown orders.

“These shots need to get in everybody’s arms as rapidly as possible,” McConnell said, “or we’re going to be back in a situation in the fall that we don’t yearn for — that we went through last year.”

“This is not complicated,” he added.

The Kentucky Republican then opined about comments from Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who suggested conservative pundits are “killing people” by questioning the vaccine.

“We have these — these talking heads who have gotten the vaccine and are telling other people not to get the vaccine,” Cox, a Republican, said.

“That kind of stuff is just, it’s ridiculous. It’s dangerous, it’s damaging, and it’s killing people,” he carried on. “I mean, it’s literally killing their supporters.”

Mitch McConnell: Get Vaccinated Or Get Lockdowns

Mitch McConnell responded to Cox’s statement that right-leaning personalities are “killing people” for daring to discuss the pros and cons of the vaccine.

The GOP leader encouraged everybody to “ignore all of these other voices that are giving demonstrably bad advice.”

McConnell notes that the vaccine – delivered under the Trump administration – is effective in preventing COVID-19. And he believes he has some experience when it comes to vaccines.

McConnell suffered from a partially paralyzed leg due to a bout with polio as a child.

Mitch McConnell’s urging to the unvaccinated to get the shot comes as the ‘Delta variant’ is causing a spike in COVID cases throughout the country.

Earlier this week, The Political Insider reported on six Texas Democrats who had contracted COVID-19 despite saying they had been fully vaccinated.

People having received full vaccinations can still get sick, but the risk of developing a severe case of COVID is diminished significantly according to the experts.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Urges Vaccines

Mitch McConnell isn’t the only one urging Americans to get vaccinated.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also pushed people this week to get the vaccine noting that “over 95%” of people being hospitalized for COVID currently “are either not fully vaccinated or not vaccinated at all.”

“And so these vaccines are saving lives, they are reducing mortality,” he relayed.

DeSantis added that in the state of Florida there is “no mandate” to get vaccinated, but that his administration has simply “provided information to people, and we’ve been very honest about any data that comes out.”

Fox News host Sean Hannity this week pleaded with his audience to “please take COVID seriously.”

“I can’t say it enough,” Hannity stated. “Enough people have died. We don’t need any more death.”

A recent report by Axios indicates those who have not been vaccinated aren’t inclined to get the shot regardless of who is telling them to do so or what incentives might be involved.

“Most Americans who still aren’t vaccinated say nothing — not their own doctor administering it, a favorite celebrity’s endorsement or even paid time off — is likely to make them get the shot,” they reveal.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) responded recently to suggestions that mask mandates and/or lockdowns could be making a come back if people don’t get vaccinated.

President Biden is reportedly considering having his administration urge even vaccinated Americans to start wearing face masks again.
