Mila Kunis Donates to Planned Parenthood in Mike Pence’s Name

To draw media attention to herself, actress Mila Kunis, while appearing on the late night show “Conan,” revealed that she donates to Planned Parenthood each month in Vice President Mike Pence’s name.

Kunis explained to Conan O’Brien that the recurring donation isn’t a prank, but simply a reminder that “there are women out there in the world that may or may not agree with his platform.” She continued, saying, “Every month to his office, he gets a little letter that says like, ‘an anonymous donation has been made in your name,’” noting it’s her way of peacefully protesting the Trump Administration.

The audience ate it up, apparently unaware of the abject stupidity of it all. Does she actually think that there’s a member of the Trump Administration who takes time out of Mike Pence’s day to inform him that a donation to Planned Parenthood has been in his name?

Here’s Kunis:

Reactions were split among those pointing out that Pence doesn’t get notified of this “protest,” and that this stunt proves that Planned Parenthood doesn’t need to take government money.

Donations did fly into Planned Parenthood following the 2016 presidential election – and if it was attempted to be a slap in the face of Republicans. That backfired too. Like Mila’s donation, it goes to show that the organization is more than capable of funding itself. The organization receives $500 million in taxpayer money each year – or only around $1.50 per American citizen, and those who truly back the organization are willing to donate a heck of a lot more than $1.50 each.

The amount of federal funding the organization receives is so small because it’s not the mega-health care provider the organization portrays itself to be. While they like to play with the statistics and claim that only 3% of their services are abortion, that 3% accounts for roughly 40% of their revenues. Clearly that’s an extremely important part of their “business.” And if we dive into their annual report, Planned Parenthood saw 2.5 million clients in 2015, which is down from 3.1 million in 2006. While 2.5 million is unquestionably a large number, it means that 98% of women of reproductive age will never step foot inside a Planned Parenthood in any given year for health care.

Meanwhile, there is one donation Mila may find herself being thanked for…..
