Michelle Wolf Deleted Thousands of Tweets Before WHPC Speech

A speech given by Michelle Wolf, an alleged comedian, has become the most talked about speech of Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner. “Just a reminder to everyone, I’m here to make jokes, I have no agenda, I’m not here to get anything accomplished. So, everyone that’s here from Congress, you should feel right at home,” she said, beginning a blistering monologue that roasted Trump and the media.

During the 19-minute long roast, Wolf referenced President Donald Trump’s alleged affair with Stormy Daniels, called his daughter Ivanka as “helpful to women as an empty box of tampons.” She also targeted Vice President Mike Pence, calling him a “weird little guy,” and press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

“I have to say I’m a little star-struck,” Wolf quipped, glancing over at Sanders. “I love you as Aunt Lydia in The Handmaid’s Tale.” The character in the show being referenced teaches young women to become servants.

“Mike Pence if you haven’t seen it (the show) you would love it,” she continued. “I actually really like Sarah, I think she’s very resourceful. She burns facts and uses the ash to create a perfect smoky eye.”

The White House Correspondents’ Association President Margaret Talev denounced the speech, writing in a statement that “Last night’s program was meant to offer a unifying message about our common commitment to a vigorous and free press while honoring civility, great reporting and sponsorship winners, not to divide people. Unfortunately, the entertainer’s monologue was not in the spirit of that mission.”

While most objecting to the roast did so due to its vulgarity, personally, I think the biggest crime was that it simply wasn’t funny.

While she’s defended the comments she made at her roast, she did delete thousands of tweets before it, probably to avoid any headaches from people digging up her old tweets.

According to the Daily Mail:

Wolf has deleted thousands of offensive Twitter messages – after tweeting jokes about Serena Williams having a penis, calling Eric Trump an ‘abortion,’ and claiming she wanted to have sex with Bill Clinton. On Monday, Wolf’s Twitter account showed she has currently has 376 posts on the social media site. In June 2017, the comedian had over 20,000 tweets.

Although the White House Correspondents Association suggested it was caught off guard by Wolf’s coarse jokes about the Trump administration, the comedian’s Twitter feed shows years of animosity toward Donald Trump and praise for Hillary Clinton.

Given Wolf’s history on Twitter, no one should be surprised by her offensive jokes during Saturday night’s dinner. The White House Correspondents’ Association should be held accountable for choosing her to perform at their annual event, instead of cowardly trying to distance itself from her.
