I don’t believe it. I’ll say it right off the bat: this is such a sensationalist statement, that it beggars belief.

President Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen caused quite a stir this week, taking a plea deal for campaign finance violations while admitting he helped the President possibly commit a crime. It’s still not entirely clear that Trump’s ordering Cohen to make a payment to silence an alleged mistress counts as a failure to record and in-kind campaign contribution. That hasn’t deterred liberals, who have cheered on this news, openly wishing it will mean impeachment in the end. Fortunately, legal experts seem to agree that the chances of Trump directing Cohen to make hush-money payoffs without recording in-kind contributions are slim. The entire story is akin to a Shakespearean drama based around treachery. Cohen used to be a loyal foot soldier of Trump’s. Now he’s a backstabber and is throwing the President overboard to save his own skin. The question is: why?

Well, it looks like some answers are coming to light. And they are being questioned for their authenticity.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Cohen was compelled to turn on Trump because his father invoked – get this – the Holocaust. Seriously.

From the report:

A personal turning point for Mr. Cohen was a conversation with his father, Maurice Cohen, a Holocaust survivor.

Mr. Cohen’s father urged him not to protect the president, saying he didn’t survive the Holocaust to have his name sullied by Mr. Trump, according to a person who was told about the conversation. The elder Mr. Cohen couldn’t be reached for comment.

Say what?

First of all, President Trump just deported the last living Nazi enabler living in the U.S. after nearly 15 years of delay. (RELATED: Nazi War Criminal Deported to Germany Under Trump Administration.)

Second, surviving the Holocaust – an incredible act that Cohen’s father deserves accolades for – has nothing to do with President Trump’s criticism.

Third, many are questioning whether or not this story is a total fabrication:

Even some liberal folks aren’t exactly appreciating Cohen’s story:

It’s gross to invoke the Holocaust to defend flipping on a man you used to work for. Period.
