America wouldn’t have her independence without the men and women who have defended it on the frontlines, and First Lady Melania Trump showed her gratitude Tuesday with a surprise visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where she met with injured service members and their families prior to the July 4th holiday.
Stephanie Grisham, Melania’s spokeswoman, tweeted about the visit. “@FLOTUS has just arrived to @WRBethesda for an unannounced visit to combat-injured service members & their families,” she wrote. “This administration will never stop supporting our men & women in uniform & the families who love them. Thank you!!!”

It wasn’t that long ago that Melania herself was a patient at Walter Reed. She underwent kidney surgery there in May for the removal of a benign embolism.
While Melania’s detractors slammed her surprise visit as another cheap photo op following Jacketgate, the First Lady’s office did not give any further details about or release any photos from her appearance at Walter Reed. Would it kill liberals to believe that Melania just wanted to do something nice for our injured servicemen and women?
Indeed, as Grisham tweeted, the Trump administration will never stop supporting our military. On Wednesday, President Donald Trump and Melania will welcome military families for a picnic on the South Lawn. Melania’s office announced Tuesday that it would be partnering with the Hallmark Channel to broadcast the Independence Day festivities at the White House across the country.
July 4th is a day to celebrate America and take pride in our freedom. However, we would not have that freedom without the many men and women who have both risked and given their lives to preserve our great liberties. Thank you to all of our troops, and thank you to President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for recognizing their great contribution to our country.
