Former First Lady Melania Trump delivered a powerful message addressed to the American people Sunday, hours after her husband, the presumptive Republican nominee for President, was nearly assassinated.

In a statement posted to X, Mrs. Trump pointed out that the animosity between both political sides had reached a tipping point, that “the fabric of our nation is tattered.”

Still, she offered a positive outlook and suggested America would persevere.

“Let us not forget that differing opinions, policy, and political games are inferior to love. Our personal, structural, and life commitment — until death — is at serious risk,” she said. “Political concepts are simple when compared to us, human beings.”

“Let us remember that when the time comes to look beyond the left and the right, beyond the red and the blue, we all come from families with the passion to fight for a better life together, while we are here in this earthly realm.”

Melania encouraged the American people to “ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence.”

Melania Points To The Human Being That Is Donald Trump

In her statement, Melania pointed out consistently that her husband, former President Donald Trump, is a human being first and foremost.

She almost lost her husband and the father to their child that day.

“When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life were on the brink of devastating change,” Mrs. Trump wrote.

She referred to the failed and currently deceased assassin as a “monster.”

“A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald’s passion – his laughter, ingenuity, love of music and inspiration,” Melania wrote.

Barely Avoided Tragedy

During a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, former President Trump was the target of an assassination attempt, allegedly by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

The incident occurred at the Butler Farm Show grounds, where Crooks fired multiple shots toward the stage, with one bullet ripping Trump’s ear and injuring him.

One attendee to the rally, Corey Comperatore, died while shielding his wife and daughters from the bullets. He died a true hero.

Two others were critically injured.

Following the Secret Service’s egregious failure to address the shooter on the roof of a building just 130 meters from Trump – despite the crowd pointing him out – the former President provided one of the most American, patriotic, and courageous responses captured on film that this nation has ever seen.

“Fight!” he shouted repeatedly, blood dripping down his face.

It’s astounding to think how narrowly this tragedy was averted. Through sheer will and luck, not due to the Secret Service. How Melania Trump almost lost her husband that day. And the American people almost lost an icon.

“I am thinking of you, my fellow Americans,” she wrote. “The winds of change have arrived. For those of you who cry in support, I thank you.”

“I commend those of you who have reached out beyond the political divide – thank you for remembering that every single politician is a man or a woman with a loving family.”
