Megyn Kelly Praises Britney Spears For Admitting To Getting An Abortion – ‘I Applaud Her’

Earlier this week, we reported that the pop star Britney Spears had admitted that she got an abortion over twenty years ago during her time dating the singer Justin Timberlake, who she claimed pressured her into going through with it. Now, the former Fox News host Megyn Kelly is praising Spears for admitting this to the world.

Kelly Praises Spears For Abortion Admission

“We don’t talk about things like that. I applaud her for admitting it,” Kelly said on her eponymous SiriusXM show. “It does feel like a personal detail that others would have chosen not to share. But I applaud her for revealing it because there are real risks to this sort of carefree, ‘Oh yeah, we’re gonna have premarital sex and we’re going to have the celebrity lifestyle.’”

“If you find yourself pregnant and you’re not yet ready to be a mother or a father, these are your choices,” she continued. “You either have to give birth to a baby and you didn’t really want to have and raise it or potentially give it up which also is emotionally tough, or you have to you have to kill your own baby. Whether you’re pro-choice or not, you can’t argue that killing that life growing inside of you is killing a baby on its way to becoming a viable baby.”

“This is somebody who’s been one of America’s sweethearts saying, ‘I did this thing with one of the most famous men on the planet, and I’m really deeply regretful about the whole experience and how painful it was,'” Kelly concluded. “I’m sure that memoir is going to be quite a best seller.”

Spears Admits To Getting An Abortion

Spears, 41, made this abortion revelation in her upcoming memoir “The Woman In Me,” which is set to hit stores on Tuesday.

“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” Spears wrote, according to People Magazine. “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”

“I’m sure people will hate me for this, but I agreed not to have the baby,” she continued. “I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”

Spears regrets getting the abortion to this day.

“To this day, it’s one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life,” she admitted.

Kelly’s Fears For Spears

Elsewhere in her show this week, Kelly’s expressed her fears for Spears.

“The way it’s going for her, I very much worry she’s going to wind up like Anna Nicole Smith unless there’s some sort of meaningful intervention,” Kelly said, referring to the late actress and model, according to OK! Magazine. “She just seems to be in a downward spiral. Unlike so many these people will find themselves in the news in this way, what has she ever done that is like wrong? Britney seems to have mental health problems, but she’s not out there hurting anybody.”

Kelly went on to say that Spears has been “punched in the face in so many different ways” throughout her life,  adding that her bizarre social media posts are “proof of the hard knocks she’s received.”

“I realize she’s a celebrity, she’s famous, she’s got a bunch of money, she’s got a lot of fans, but it just seems like the real truth of Britney’s life has been it’s been a very difficult, long haul,” she concluded.
