Dalia al-Aqidi, a Muslim Iraqi refugee and journalist, has announced a campaign to unseat Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar in November.
She joins an ever-widening list of Republicans seeking to challenge Omar. Al-Aqidi believes she’s the only one who can counter the Minnesota lawmaker’s perpetual effort to use identity politics to garner votes.
“She needs to be stopped,” al-Aqidi told Fox News in a phone interview. “I truly believe that I’m strong enough to beat her at her own game.”
Al-Aqidi explained that she and Omar are “basically the same” when it comes to their backgrounds. She, however, will focus on everybody’s differences still coming together to make a better America, not using them to divide people.
It’s time to defend America! I’m running for Congress because we’re not as divided as Ilhan Omar and the far-left would have us believe. I’m running to bring us closer together. https://t.co/sa9dsHHTeO

Slams Omar As Un-American
Al-Aqidi scoffed at the notion of using identity politics in the campaign, noting that her status as a Muslim Iraqi refugee negates anything Omar can counter with.
Instead, she’d like to focus on their differences – namely, that she loves America while Omar criticizes this nation at every turn.

“Every time she opens her mouth she says something either anti-U.S. or anti-Semitic,” al-Aqidi said.
“I am loyal to the country that gave me a chance, gave me a brighter future,” she added, accurately suggesting that Omar “continually tries to weaken the country and divide us.”
Dalia al-Aqidi is a Muslim Iraqi refugee who says she’s tired of hearing Rep. Ilhan Omar play identity politics while using language she believes is “dividing” America.

Strong Defense, Strong Economy, Strong Education
Dalia al-Aqidi tells Fox News that her platforms will focus on security at home and abroad, the economy, and education.
She correctly notes that President Trump is “doing great” in creating a flourishing economy for everybody.
Omar has sought to weaken the country both at home and abroad, supporting open borders and limiting the authority of the commander-in-chief when it comes to strikes against terrorists like Qassem Soleimani.
She also curiously finds humor when others are talking about American military casualties in the Middle East.

Al-Aqidi previously requested an interview with Omar to discuss the Democrat’s controversial comments that 9/11 was carried out by ‘some people’ who ‘did something.’
Omar would not respond.
