According to a new poll, a large majority of Americans disapprove of how President Joe Biden has handled the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan.

A withdrawal in which as many 15,000 Americans were left behind, and billions of dollars of U.S. military equipment was left to fall into the hands of the Taliban.

The poll was conducted Aug. 14-15 among 1,084 likely voters.

69 Percent Disapprove Of Biden’s Actions

The Trafalgar Group and Convention of States Action released a survey that found that 69 percent of polled Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the U.S.’s military presence in Afghanistan.

23 percent approved.

As for party breakdowns, 48 percent of Democrats disapprove of Biden’s Afghanistan policies, and almost 40 percent approve.

When it came to Republicans, that gap was predictably wider.

Nearly 89 percent disapprove of Biden’s actions as president in Afghanistan.

Only 7 percent approved.

On the companies conducting the survey, The Hill reported, “The Trafalgar Group was the only nonpartisan polling company to predict former President Trump would win Pennsylvania and Michigan in 2016, but since then has faced some criticism over its methodology.”

The survey was conducted as the Taliban took over the Afghanistan capitol of Kabul.

The Hill noted, “Taliban fighters stepped up their military offensive in recent weeks as the U.S. troop withdrawal neared its end. President Biden previously said the mission in Afghanistan would wrap up by the end of this month.”

Team Biden Is Defending Afghanistan Policies

“Politicians in Washington are now debating what went wrong with the U.S. withdrawal, and who is to blame for the rapidly deteriorating situation,” the outlet reported.

Republicans have been very critical of Biden for not having a better exit strategy in place and also for not following the same withdrawal outline that former President Donald Trump had in place beforehand.

The Biden administration is defending its actions.

The Hill reported, “Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday argued that the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan would have occurred even if U.S. forces remained deployed in the region.”

That’s arguably true. But the Biden administration has yet to excuse, or even explain, why they left behind thousands of Americans and allowed to so much military materiel to fall into enemy hands.
