Mainstream News Outlets Falsely Claim Elizabeth Warren Proved She Is Native American

The supposedly non-partisan Associated Press pushed fake news propaganda regarding Elizabeth Warren’s DNA test, which showed that she might be 1/1024th Native American (or 0.09%), if that. Sadly, they are not the only mainstream news outlet to publish deliberately false, misleading information.

“President Trump lashes out at Sen. Warren over DNA test results she released indicating she has Native American heritage, and he says her claims are ‘a scam and a lie’ despite her proof,” read the AP’s promotional Tweet for their article.

Here was their tweet:

The AP must be confused by what “proof” is.

And They’re Not the Only Ones

Unsurprisingly, it’s not just the AP that’s trying to carry water for Democrat Elizabeth Warren. “The View” had a segment in which they criticize Trump for not making good on his $1 million offer for Warren to take a DNA test.

The Daily Beast reported on the DNA test proving “yes, she is Native American.”

The New York Times reporter Nick Confessore predicted that Trump wouldn’t be able to mock Warren anymore after this test, because the test constituted “definitive proof.”

Shareblue Media, which is owned by radical left Media Matters founder David Brock, also called the test “proof” Trump was wrong. “Trump’s dare to Elizabeth Warren just blew up in his face,” Shareblue headlined an article, apparently unaware of how badly this stunt blew up in Warren’s face.

The Washington Post’s faux conservative Jen Rubin thought Warren’s stunt was brilliant (which is really all you need to know to determine that it is, in fact, a disaster).

And CBS Boston reported on the “strong evidence” of Native ancestry from Warren’s test.

As did the geniuses over at NBC:

The actual facts about the DNA test

It must be clarified that the DNA test didn’t prove that Warren has any Native ancestors at all.

The results claim Warren could be anywhere from 1/64th to 1/1024th Native. She could possibly have a single Native ancestor anywhere from 6 generations back to 10 generations back – or not at all.

New York Times reported the average European American has approximately 0.18% Native DNA. 1/64th is a best case scenario for Warren. 1/1024 is .098%.

But here’s the kicker – this all assumes that Warren actually does have a Native ancestor. That is totally unproven.

As the original Boston Globe itself readily admits:

Detecting DNA for Native Americans is particularly tricky because there is an absence of Native American DNA available for comparison. This is in part because Native American leaders have asked tribal members not to participate in genetic databases.

“The tribes have felt they have been exploited,” explained Lawrence Brody, a senior investigator with the Medical Genomics and Metabolic Genetics Branch at the National Institutes of Health. “The amount of genetic data that is available from Native Americans is sparse.”

To make up for the dearth of Native American DNA, Bustamante used samples from Mexico, Peru, and Colombia to stand in for Native American.

Warren may or may not be 1/64th or 1/1024th Native, or Mexican, or Peruvian. None of this is “proof.” And these are the same liberals who lecture people about “believing in science.”

And the Cherokee Digress…

Most importantly, the Cherokee Nation rejects Warren’s claims of ancestry and considers them insulting and damaging:

I haven’t seen it happen yet, but I’d love to see a liberal try to explain to a real Native American why Warren is, in fact, one of them.
