Liz Cheney ‘Would Not’ Support Trump In 2024 — We Can’t ‘Embrace Insurrection’

On Wednesday, Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney said that if Donald Trump became the 2024 Republican Party nominee, she would not support him.
Cheney, an establishment Republican who voted to impeach Trump, made her comments on Fox News Channel’s “Your World” with Neil Cavuto.
Question: If Donald Trump were the 2024 nominee, would you support him?

Cheney Attacks Trump, Promotes Afghanistan War
Cheney also reiterated her view that Trump was responsible for the Capitol riot.
When asked about pressure she’s gotten for opposing Trump, she said, “I’ve been clear about my views about what happened on January 6th, about my views of the president’s culpability. I obviously voted to impeach him.”
“I think that it was the gravest violation of an oath of office by any president in American history,” the neocon Republican declared.
“For us as a party, we have to be the party of hope and aspirations, and we cannot embrace insurrection and can’t minimize what happened January 6.”
“I think all of us, regardless of partisanship, have an obligation and a duty to the Constitution, a duty to the peaceful transition of power,” she added.
Cheney then attacked the idea of ending the war in Afghanistan, in remarks about her opposition to several Democrat policies.
“I think that when you look at the challenges we face today, you look at the real turn towards socialism, that you see coming from the Democrats when you see this decision on Afghanistan,” Cheney said.
President Biden has claimed he would remove all troops from Afghanistan by September of this year, pushing back the May 1 deadline set by former President Trump.
Cheney is an avid foe of pulling U.S. troops from Afghanistan, where they have been fighting for two decades.
Liz Cheney, whose father along with Bush started the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, raking in billions for Halliburton and other oil and private military contractors, wants the war (and their profits) to continue. How shocking. https://t.co/qHEF76BZNw

Cheney continued, “When you see the executive orders, President Biden has signed ending all oil and gas leases on public lands. When you see the massive spending for the Green New Deal.”
“When you see the extent to which they don’t want us to teach kids American history, they don’t want us to teach kids to be proud of this country,” she said.
At the end of her interview with Fox News' Neil Cavuto, @Liz_Cheney was asked if she would support Trump if he were the 2024 GOP nominee.
"I would not," she responded.
There was no follow-up question from Cavuto.

“Those are all battles that we have to fight,’ Cheney explained. “I’m honored to be in and continue to fight and will ultimately that we will win.”
And then came the big question.
Fox News host Neil Cavuto asked, “If Donald Trump were the 2024 nominee, would you support him?”
“I would not,” Cheney replied.
