Lindsey Graham praised President Trump for taking on the “absurd policy” of birthright citizenship, vowing to introduce legislation that would end the practice.
In an interview with Jonathan Swan of Axios, Trump asserted that he plans to sign an executive order eliminating the concept of birthright citizenship.
“We’re the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits,” he stated.
“It’s ridiculous,” Trump continued, “and it has to end.”

Liberals have been apoplectic about the notion of dismantling the 14th Amendment, spreading misinformation and fearmongering – though legendary conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh explains, they’re not telling the truth.
“There’s nothing in the Constitution that says that if you are born to an illegal immigrant in America, that you are an American citizen,” he elucidated. “It’s not there. People think it is.”
Lindsey Graham says he will introduce legislation to end birthright citizenship
Senator Lindsey Graham, who has undergone a radical transformation from establishment RINO to tough guy and supporter of the President, praised Trump for taking on this policy.
Finally, a president willing to take on this absurd policy of birthright citizenship. https://t.co/kCa0ko7P76

Graham explained that he has long supported the end of birthright citizenship as any part of a comprehensive immigration reform package.
“The United States is one of two developed countries in the world who grant citizenship based on location of birth,” he said. “This policy is a magnet for illegal immigration, out of the mainstream of the developed world, and needs to come to an end.”
He then dropped a bombshell indicating he would follow Trump’s lead and introduce legislation to end the practice.
In addition, I plan to introduce legislation along the same lines as the proposed executive order from President @realDonaldTrump.

How birthright citizenship could be reversed
Vice President Mike Pence explained that the Supreme Court, now firmly in the grasp of Constitutionalist, had never ruled that the 14th Amendment applies to children of people who are in the country illegally.
“We all cherish the language of the 14th Amendment, but the Supreme Court of the United States has never ruled on whether or not the language of the 14th Amendment subject to the jurisdiction thereof applies specifically to people who are in the country illegally,” he said.
Graham’s legislative path won’t be an easy mountain to climb, but it can be climbed.
Graham is right: Congress clearly has the authority to do this, based on the text, subtext, and context (take your pick!) of the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment. And this is something that should be dealt with via legislation, not EO/regulation. https://t.co/Edsm8NpwmL

Bipartisan support for ending birthright citizenship
While Democrats now claim that anything short of open borders is “racist” and “white supremacist,” big names like Barack Obama, Chuck Schumer, and Harry Reid are on the record supporting the very policies Trump supports.
Here’s Harry Reid, demanding an end to birthright citizenship:
The Hill reports: “If Graham is going to propose legislation to amend the Constitution, his bill would need to win over not only two-thirds majorities in Congress, but also be ratified by three-quarters of the states.”
It is one more reason next week’s election is so vital in furthering the President’s policies and platforms.
