It’s truly no wonder that no significant gun control legislation seems to get passed in this country, because on the issue of the gun control, proponents of stricter gun laws can’t help but come across as clueless. Perhaps it’s to be expected – it’s those who grow up around and have experience guns that view them more favorably, and tend to have more knowledge about them as a result.
And it shows.
First and foremost, you can tell how clueless most on the left are in the gun debate over the types of guns they want to ban. If they’re truly concerned with the annual gun homicide toll (around 12,000), why is it only the guns they think are “scary” that they go after. The much-maligned “assault rifle,” despite its role in a number of mass public shootings, accounts for an extremely low percentage of all gun deaths – like, in the single digits. In 2012, 322 people were killed by all rifles, while 678 murders were committed with fists, 518 with hammers, and 1,589 with knives.
It’s also particularly hilarious when we see such “scary” weapons referred to as “semi-automatic,” because it goes to prove that liberals think “semi-automatic” means the same thing as “automatic.” Why else would they make the argument? “The shooter had a rifle that fires one bullet at a time” doesn’t have the same ring to it, I suppose.
But as for the dumbest arguments made in favor of gun control, there are quite a few contenders for #1…

And always remember: Liberals don’t have safety in mind when they advocate for gun control. They want to disarm you, period. That’s why one church is now encouraging its members to bring their fireamrs to sevice. Guns are God’s natural protector!
