Kyrsten Sinema Calls Out Democrat Leaders On False Unity And Honesty 'Just Tell The Truth'

In an interview with Politico on Wednesday, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) whipped a little tough love on her fellow Democrats.

She took her own party to task for false promises and expectations, more specifically surrounding the two mammoth spending bills, one recently signed by President Joe Biden and another still pending.

What Sen. Sinema Really Thinks

Kyrsten Sinema did not spare her criticism:

“I’ve been concerned at the push that happens in both parties, this push to have no disagreements. To only have unity or to only speak with one voice. And some will say, ‘Oh, that is our strength.’ Having some disagreement is normal. It is real, it is human. And it’s an opportunity for us as mature beings to work through it.”

Sinema continued, “There’s this growing trend of people in both political parties who promise things that cannot be delivered, in order to get the short-term political gain. And I believe that it damages the long-term health of our democracy.”

During the interview, Sinema gave the example of Republicans promising to get rid of Obamacare immediately following the election of Donald Trump. But she addressed both parties when she said of those high expectations, “You’re either honest or you’re not honest. So just tell the truth and be honest and deliver that which you can deliver.”

What happens When You Disagree With The Party

Kyrsten Sinema has some level of bravery to admonish her own party. She and her colleague, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), have taken a lot of abuse for their contrary positions on the spending bills and doing away with the filibuster that differ from the majority of their party.

Manchin recently had his car swarmed by climate change activists as he was leaving a parking garage. He also had left-wing activists paddle up to his houseboat and demand he support the Biden spending bills.

And of course if everything else fails, pull the race card. Rep. Cori Bush recently called Manchin, “anti-black, anti-child, anti-woman, and anti-immigrant” for not supporting the Build Back Better act.

As for Sinema, she got her own headlines recently when protesters followed her into a restroom and even right up to the stall door, all while trying to convince her to support the Build Back Better plan. She was also harassed at a wedding that far-left protesters crashed in order protest her opposition to the bill.

Going Rogue?

From being criticized about her wardrobe to her stances on the issues, Kyrsten Sinema will not march in lock step with Democrats.

She told Politico that she supports the spending bill in general, but not the tax increases, saying she “will not support tax policies that have a negative impact on our economic climate.”

Sinema did negotiate a prescription drug reform deal that was included in the $1.75 trillion infrastructure bill, but was not enough to satisfy progressives.

Democrats should probably get used to Kyrsten Sinema whipping out the tough love when she thinks they need it.
