MSNBC’s Joy Reid Sued For Defamation By Trump Supporter

MSNBC’s Joy Reid is lucky she’s a liberal because if she were anything but, she’d be out of work by now.

Back in April, a series of old blog posts Reid published were unearthed, many of which betrayed the liberal principles she claims to champion. It was mostly a series of homophobic blog posts unearthed that Reid was put on the defensive over, though there were plenty of other nuggets buried in the archives.

In some posts, Reid expresses sympathies towards 9/11 conspiracy theories. A personal favorite is a post in which Reid is discussing the then-ongoing legal feud between Donald Trump and Rosie O’Donnell, in which she took the side of “kick-ass funny Donald Trump.”

Instead of simply being honest and saying that her views have changed since then, Reid decided to concoct a bizarre web of lies, claiming that her blog was hacked by Russian hackers. However, after Wayback Machine (a non-profit company that provides an archive of the internet) released an analysis showing that Reid’s posts were never altered, she continued to double down.

Aside from an LGBT advocacy group that rescinded an award that they’d previously awarded her, Reid didn’t face any real consequences other than embarrassment for her old posts. And while I don’t think anyone should face consequences for views expressed on a blog a decade ago that they no longer personally believe, it’s Reid’s lying that should’ve resulted in consequences. The fact that her bogus excuses were accepted without question by her fellow liberals is just another confirmation that liberals run the media.

That controversy is largely behind her (perhaps until some internet sleuth unearths more old writings of hers), but it’s since been replaced by another. Now, Reid is finding herself sued for defamation.

According to Mediaite, “a California woman has filed a defamation lawsuit against MSNBC host Joy Reid for spreading the false claim on social media that she lobbed a racial slur at a 14-year-old boy. Reid spread a viral photo on her social media pages in June that showed the woman, Roslyn La Liberte, wearing a MAGA hat and apparently screaming in the direction of a young boy at a city council meeting.  In now-deleted posts, Reid wrote that La Liberte “showed up [to the meeting], in her MAGA hat, and screamed, ‘You are going to be the first deported’ … ‘ dirty Mexican!'”

According to La Liberte, however, she said nothing of the sort. Reid simply took a photograph of her and added her own narrative. La Liberte said her conversation with 14-year-old Joseph Luevanos was “civil” and the two hugged afterwards. Leuvanos also told reporters at the event that “she [La Liberte] was still trying to keep it civil which I appreciate.” A video of the two hugging can be seen below:

Reid apologized for the story she “appeared” to have gotten wrong in July. And by “appears to have gotten wrong,” she means “caught deliberately lying about.”

Reid has a following of over 1.5 million across her social media platforms, and caused La Liberte to be bombarded with harassment. It’s about time she faced some consequences for being wrong, don’t you think?
