Joy Behar Attacks Tim Scott – Claims He Doesn’t ‘Understand’ Difference Between Racist Country, Systemic Racism

On Thursday’s episode of the ABC talk show “The View,” cohost Joy Behar launched a truly vile attack on Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) after he gave the rebuttal following President Joe Biden’s State of the Union last night.

Behar, who is a white woman, went so far as to say that Scott, the only Black Republican in Congress, “doesn’t seem to understand” the difference between a racist country and systemic racism.

After playing a clip of Scott’s incredible speech in which he declared that “America is not a racist country,” cohost Whoopi Goldberg said, “Joy, what country is Tim Scott living in?”

After gushing over Biden’s speech and saying it felt “wonderful” to see two women, Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, sitting behind him, Behar turned her attention to Scott.

Behar Attacks Scott

“Now, Tim Scott, he does not seem to understand — and a lot of them don’t seem to understand — the difference between a racist country and systemic racism. They don’t seem to get the difference,”  she said.

“Yes, maybe it’s not a racist country. Maybe Americans, the majority, are not racist. But we live in a country with systemic racism,” Behar added. “The fact that Tim Scott cannot acknowledge this is appalling. How can you go out there and say that when you just said two minutes ago that you were the object and the victim of discrimination?”

Behar concluded that she would like to see Scott admit that there is systemic racism in this country.

Meghan McCain Defends Scott

Thankfully, Behar’s cohost Meghan McCain was there to defend Scott from the racist attacks Democrats have been hurling at him.

“The way he is being talked about, the way he’s being disrespected, don’t talk to me about micro-aggressions with race in this country,” she said.

“Don’t talk to me about the problems we have in this country with racism when it’s okay to speak and treat a black man this way who happens to be the most famous Republican black senator in the country,” McCain continued. “It’s okay to treat him that way.”
