Joe Manchin Fires Back After Far-Left ‘Squad’ Member Cori Bush’s ‘Anti-Black’ Comments

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), a guy who has been around the D.C. swamp for a while, schooled newbie Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) on Wednesday when he responded to comments Bush recently made regarding Manchin’s opposition to the massive Build Back Better plan.

Bush, a far-left member of the ‘Squad’, accused Manchin of racism because of his reluctance to vote for the bill, saying, “Joe Manchin’s opposition to the Build Back Better Act is anti-Black, anti-child, anti-woman, and anti-immigrant.”

To seal the deal on her accusations against Manchin, Bush added, “Black, brown and Indigenous communities” that would benefit from the spending plan “are overwhelmingly excluded from the bipartisan infrastructure bill.”

Manchin Not Playing The Race Game

Liberals throw down the race card because they think it will intimidate others into playing their game. But Joe Manchin was having none of it.

In response to Bush’s rhetoric, he stated, “I would just say the congresswoman doesn’t know me. She doesn’t know me.”

But then, seemingly using what he has learned from his own time in Washington, he added, “And I’m happy to talk to her. I think maybe she will have a different opinion. Go home to West Virginia and ask people, and I think you will get a different opinion.”

Manchin also turned the tables on Bush by adding, “And this is a shame when we start this war — war of words. I’m not going to speak ill about any of my congressional friends and colleagues on the House side or the Senate side.”

Killing them with kindness is as old school as Manchin’s status as the last of the Blue Dog Democrats.

Manchin Talks About Something Deeper

During his interview with Fox News Channel’s Brett Baier, Manchin talked about what he described as the “toxic” environment in Washington D.C., and in today’s political debate in general.

Manchin lamented:

“We can have a difference of opinion, but the rhetoric around here has gotten so harsh and so toxic that you can’t agree to disagree anymore. You can’t sit down and say, ‘Ok, I disagree with you, Bret. You’re going to say, ‘Ok, Joe, do we agree on the same problem?’ I say, ‘Yeah, let’s start working. Tell me what you think you would fix it. That’s not happening.”

And not only are those that are elected to go to Washington either unable or unwilling to have a difference of opinion, Manchin sees something far more ominous, and that is that no one, on either side of the aisle, seems to be discussing what is best for the country. 

Manchin continued, “Let me tell you what I don’t hear that scares the bejesus out of me. I don’t hear people say, ‘This is good for our country.’ More or less, on both sides, it’s, ‘This is better for my party. This is better for the 2022 election.'”

Manchin is absolutely not alone there. Millions of Americans undoubtedly agree with that.

Manchin described an adult concept that the Cori Bush’s of the world do not grasp. The immature entitlement of thinking they can call someone a racist anytime they feel like it goes right over their heads, and this tactic will cease to work on fewer and fewer people.

Bush’s office did not respond to Manchin’s comments.
