Joe Biden Doesn’t Understand Vaccine Mandate Opposition: ‘I Don’t Quite Get This’

Joe Biden Bewildered By Vaccine Mandate Opposition: ‘I Don’t Quite Get This’

On Thursday, President Joe Biden promoted vaccine mandates for businesses, but seemed to not be able to fathom why many Americans felt they were a violation of their liberties.

Biden said, “I’ve tried everything in my power to get people vaccinated,” appearing to be frustrated that there has been such widespread pushback.

Biden On Vaccine Mandate: ‘It’s About Being Patriotic, Doing The Right Thing’

The president talked about the vaccination mandates during a stop in Illinois. That state has harsher restrictions about requiring vaccines than other states in the midwest.

In a long speech about how vaccine requirements are ‘economic stimulus,’ Biden tried to address those who oppose vaccine mandates.

Biden acknowledged that mandating the vaccine was not his “first instinct.” But the president also thought it was crucial to getting most Americans vaccinated.

“Yes. Some object,” Biden said. “And some object very strenuously, and some are making a political statement out of this issue.”

The president added, “It’s about life and death, that’s what it’s about … it’s about being patriotic, doing the right thing.”

That’s when Biden said he didn’t get the resistance and said his mandate was “nothing new.”

“I don’t quite get this, you know, why it’s a matter of, ‘No violation of your right to go to school, or get a job,’ etc., but now it’s a great cause célèbre?” Biden asked.

“Look, I know vaccination requirements are tough medicine, unpopular for some, politics for others, but they’re lifesaving, they’re game-changing for our country,” Biden said.

Biden argued that businesses should lead the way back to economic growth by mandating vaccines.

Biden even noted that Fox News required vaccine mandates.

“This I always get a kick out of, Fox News,” Biden said. “Fox News requires vaccinations for all their employees.”

“Give me a break. Fox News,” Biden mocked.
