Jason Aldean Links ‘Try That In A Small Town’ To Boston’s Response To Marathon Bombing

Over the past few weeks, the country music star Jason Aldean has been hit with backlash over his anti-woke anthem “Try That In A Small Town,” which calls out the rampant crime that has taken over many American cities. While performing at the Mansfield Xfinity Center in Boston on Saturday night, Aldean compared the message of this song to the way the Massachusetts city responded to the Boston Marathon bombings back in 2013.

Aldean’s Boston Comments 

“We thought it was a really cool song. The message that we wanted to get out there has completely gotten overshadowed by all the bulls—,” Aldean began, according to Fox News. “I was laying in bed last night and I’m thinking to myself, you guys did this better than anybody, right?”

“Because I remember a time, I think it was April of 2013, when the Boston Marathon bombings happened. You guys remember this, right?” he continued. “What I saw when that happened was a whole, not a small town – a big-a– town – come together. No matter of your color, no matter anything.”

“The whole country, especially Boston, came together to find these two p—– that did that, right? And anybody of you guys that would’ve found those guys before the cops did, I know you guys from Boston, and you guys would’ve beat the s— out of [them],” Aldean added, referring to the terrorist brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who carried out this bombing.

Aldean Doubles Down

Not stopping there, Aldean proceeded to bring up “Try That In A Small Town.”

“I’ve been trying to say this,” he said. “This is not about race. It’s about people getting their s— together. Acting right. Acting like you got some common sense.”

“We are a country, the greatest one in the world,” Aldean continued. “And I know you guys are like me, you want to be able to send your kids to school and not have to worry about something happening while they’re at school. Or letting them go to a movie on the weekends, just like we all did growing up. And I have to worry about are they going to come home or not?”

“I don’t give a s— what color you are,” he concluded. “If you’re acting out, burning down buildings, costing taxpayers all this money, just so you can show that you’re p—– off, to me, I just don’t get that.”

Aldean Fires Back At ‘Try That In A Small Town’ Backlash

Liberals have outrageously claimed that “Try That In A Small Town” is a “pro-lynching” song, and they’ve taken issue with the fact that its music video dares to portray the violence and chaos of the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020. The backlash got to be so great earlier this month that Country Music Television (CMT) pulled the “Try That In A Small Town” music video from its rotation.

Aldean immediately fired back by defending his song, saying that it is not racist at all.

“In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests,” he said. “These references are not only meritless, but dangerous.”

“There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far,” he continued. “‘Try That In A Small Town,’ for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences.”

Aldean has long been targeted by the left because he is one of the few openly conservative celebrities out there, publicly supporting Donald Trump in both the 2016 and the 2020 presidential elections. Despite the left’s attempts to cancel “Try That In A Small Town,” it has become a massive hit, even reaching number 1 on iTunes, according to Newsweek.

It’s clear from Aldean’s latest comments in Boston that his true goal with this song was to call on Americans to unite once again in a time when we are more divided than ever. It shouldn’t take a deadly tragedy like the Boston Marathon bombing to bring Americans together again, but if the left continues to get their way, however, it unfortunately might take something of that magnitude to do it.
