The House select committee investigating the Capitol riot on January 6th issued a new round of subpoenas for 10 former senior Trump administration officials, including former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

The House select committee investigating the Capitol riot on January 6th issued a new round of subpoenas for 10 former senior Trump administration officials, including former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany.

Other notable names from the list include Stephen Miller, a Trump senior adviser, Christopher Liddell, former White House deputy chief of staff, and former national security adviser to Vice President Pence, Keith Kellogg.

The chairman of the select committee, Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi continued to insist the panel is simply trying to drill down to the facts behind that day.

Thompson said the anti-Trump panel “wants to learn every detail of what went on in the White House on January 6th and in the days beforehand. ”

“We need to know precisely what role the former President and his aides played in efforts to stop the counting of the electoral votes and if they were in touch with anyone outside the White House attempting to overturn the outcome of the election,” he added.

Kayleigh McEnany Among New Round Of Subpoenas

Kayleigh McEnany was targeted by the House select committee with the new round of subpoenas based on her public statements surrounding the events of January 6th.

The committee stated McEnany “made multiple public statements from the White House and elsewhere about purported fraud in the November 2020 election.”

“For example, in the first White House press conference after the election, Ms. McEnany claimed that there were ‘very real claims’ of fraud that the former President’s reelection campaign was pursuing, and said that mail-in voting was something that ‘we have identified as being particularly prone to fraud,'” they add.

How either of those claims results in a direct line to people breaching the Capitol is unclear.

The 10 new subpoenas bring the total number issued by the select committee to “at least 35” according to ABC News.

Trump Fires Back

A federal judge on Tuesday rejected former President Donald Trump’s effort to block committee investigators from accessing White House records related to his objections to the 2020 election.

Trump appealed the decision.

Trump again slammed the committee..

“The Unselect Committee of politically ambitious hacks continues to subpoena people wanting to know about those protesting, on January 6th, the insurrection which took place during the Presidential Election of November 3rd,” he said in a statement.

“There is so much proof, but the Fake News Media refuses to print it or show it in any way, shape, or form.”

‘Never Trump’ Republican Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) continued bashing Trump in a speech on Tuesday.

Republican leaders, Cheney said, “have made themselves willing hostages to this dangerous, irrational man.”

Cheney said the US is “confronting a domestic threat that we have never faced before” in President Trump, who she said is “attempting to unravel the foundations of our constitutional republic.”
