Iranian Reporters Quit State-Ran Media Amid Protests

One leaves with, "Forgive me for the 13 years I told you lies."

There are things that are rare to see.

A lobster playing badminton, show shoes in Miami, and a Democrat telling the truth are all not apparent to the eye.

But perhaps the most few and far between sight is a television journalist in a repressive nation putting integrity before career, maybe even before freedom or survival.

However, the Guardian reports two members of the state-owned Iranian media outlet did that Monday. Their names are Gelare Jabbari and Zahra Khatami, and when the history is written about the current likely last days of this belligerent theocracy they will go down as a heroine. Jabbari’s message to viewers in the now-deleted post said, “…And forgive me for the 13 years I told you lies.”

Sadly, it is highly unlikely Don Lemon or Rachel Maddow will follow her lead.

The latest lie that was too much for Jabbari was the bungled coverup of the shooting down by the Iranian military of a Ukrainian passenger jet last Wednesday.

Also asking for forgiveness and saying goodbye to her viewers was fellow Iranian anchor Saba Rad, who signed off with, “I cannot continue my work in the media. I cannot.”

The time of the mad mullahs may be coming to an end, as countless numbers of everyday Iranians led by students march for real freedom (interesting contrast to American students) and justice down the streets of major Iranian cities.

Security forces are now responding with deadly force.

Through the justified cynicism of our times, it is inspiring to watch a people fight for themselves against repression and bullets.

It stands in stark variance with the leftist whingers and mullah apologists here who think they are somehow at risk.

Maybe they should go to Tehran and get a whiff of the real thing.
