Suparna Dutta, who immigrated to the United States from India, was accused of being aligned with ‘white supremacists’ and had her nomination to the Virginia Board of Education blocked by Democrats when she argued socialism is “incompatible with democracy.”

Dutta was appointed to the Board in July by Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin.

But her nomination was pulled just one week prior to being confirmed to her seat when Virginia state Senator Ghazala Hashmi introduced a last-minute amendment to remove the mother of two from the list of nominations.

Hashmi’s amendment passed on a party-line vote, 22-18.

Suparna Dutta Booted From Virginia Board of Education

The controversy surrounding Suparna Dutta’s appointment to the Virginia Board of Education comes due to her recent defense of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, as well as her opposition to socialism.

Dutta got into a dispute last week with board member Anne Holton who argued she was “uncomfortable” with proposed changes to history and social science standards that labeled the founding papers as “remarkable documents.”

“You cannot reference the Declaration of Independence and Constitution as remarkable documents without also acknowledging that they contain fundamental flaws of enshrining slavery and limiting the protections that they provided for only to white, propertied men,” Holton said.

Holton is the wife of Democratic Senator Tim Kaine.

She then argued that while communism may not be compatible with democracy, “plenty of governments” call themselves socialist democratic governments.

“I think socialism is just about as bad as communism,” Dutta replied. “It co-opts the important decisions belonging to families and individuals.”

“I come from a country which used to be more socialistic than it is now, but it creates dependency and depression,” she added.

Accuse Her of Being Aligned With White Supremacists

It wasn’t simply enough for the Virginia Democrats to argue qualifications — of which Dutta is eminently qualified for the state Board of Education – they had to attack somebody simply because they dare to object to the perils of socialism.

Honestly, Dutta’s comments were measured, intelligent, and overall rather tame compared to what they could have been.

And not only that, Democrats opted to play the race card… Against an immigrant from India no less.

Hashmi, in a statement regarding her amendment to remove Dutta from the list of nominations, refused to say her name and argued she had a lot of “problematic concerns.”

“One area that I would just speak to briefly,” Hashmi said, “is the alignment that we’ve seen with very extreme and right-wing white supremacist groups.”

There you have it – support traditional American values and get accused of racism. Every. Single. Time.

Dutta spoke with Fox News just before the vote to remove her.

“I thought people celebrated diversity. Whether it’s diversity of thought, diversity of viewpoint, or diversity of any of the many characteristics,” Dutta said.

“I’m flummoxed.”

Governor Youngkin slammed Democrats for the move to sack Dutta’s appointment to the Virginia Board of Education.

“She is a mother and advocate for parents’ rights, she is an immigrant and an advocate for Asian American rights, she is an engineer and advocate for STEM in education,” he said.

“She is not only qualified, she epitomizes parental involvement in our schools and we need her voice on our Board of Education.”

The Democrats, by contrast, epitomize those who despise the founding of America, view this nation exclusively through the lens of racism, and celebrate socialism as their preferred choice of governance.
