Ilhan Omar: Netanyahu’s ‘Existence’ a Threat to Peace, Promotes Anti-Semitic BDS Movement

Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar believes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s very existence is a threat to peace in the region.

In an interview with ‘Face the Nation’ on Sunday, Omar (D-MN) said she hopes Israel moves in a different direction as the nation heads toward another election on Tuesday.

Her wording left a lot to be desired, defining Netanyahu as a threat to peace while promoting the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS), something members of her own party have referred to as ‘anti-Semitic’ and ‘anti-American.’

“I certainly hope that the people of Israel make a different decision and my hope is that they recognize that his existence, his policies, his rhetoric really is contradictory to the peace that we are all hoping for the region to see and see soon,” she told viewers.

Imagine for a moment, President Trump saying Omar’s existence was a threat to peace. It would be interpreted as a racist, bigoted, death threat.

She went on to reiterate the charged rhetoric on social media …

Omar continued by pushing the BDS movement which seeks to target U.S. companies that do business with Israel.

“I think what is really important is for people to understand that you have to give people the opportunity to seek the kind of justice they want in a peaceful way and I think the opportunity to boycott, divest, sanction is the kind of the pressure that leads to that peaceful process,” she claimed.

In a speech to the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference earlier this year, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi heavily criticized the movement.

“We must also be vigilant against bigoted or dangerous ideologies masquerading as policy, and that includes BDS,” she argued. “I simply declare – to be anti-Semitic is to be anti-American. It has no place in our country.”

Huh, kind of sounds like she’s saying Omar should ‘go back’ to where she came from.

In a push for the movement in front of Congress, fellow Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) compared Israel to Nazi Germany.

She asserted there is a “right to boycott” our Jewish allies and, as an example noted, “Americans boycotted Nazi Germany in response to dehumanization, imprisonment, and genocide of Jewish people.”

Netanyahu’s government barred Omar and Tlaib from entering Israel earlier this year due to their support for BDS and the fact that they were planning to promote it within the country’s borders.

“It became clear that they are planning a trip whose sole purpose was strengthening the boycott and negating the legitimacy of Israel,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.

Now Omar wants to negate Netanyahu’s very existence.
