Speaking at a campaign rally for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, Rep. Ilhan Omar told a story of her first impressions upon arriving in America, expressing her disappointment at what she saw.
Omar was making a point of trashing America for homelessness, a cause dear to her heart as she pushes her ‘Homes For All Act,’ legislation allegedly designed to make housing ‘a human right.’
“When I first came to the United States, I remember one of the first things that I saw was homeless people sleeping on the sides of Manhattan when we arrived in New York,” the Minnesota Democrat recalled. “And I remember turning to my father and saying, ‘This doesn’t look like the America you promised.'”
Omar claims ‘orientation tapes’ shown to refugees featured homes with white picket fences and happy children heading off to school.
“That is the America we all know we deserve but our reality is full of homeless people,” she continued. “Our reality is full of families who have moms and dads who are going without dinner or lunch or breakfast just so that they can have enough for their children.”

Going to Make it Her America
The irony here is that Omar’s comments about homelessness and cities where schools and infrastructure are decaying are typically run by Democrat politicians.
Not always, but very, very typically. Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Baltimore, and New York City to name a few.
“Our reality is full of kids who are showing up to schools that are full of mold and leaking rooftops,” she complained. “Our reality has children who are facing drills every single day to learn about how they can escape being shot in our schools.”
Perhaps chillingly, in relaying her story, she mentions something her father said to her after she expressed disappointment in America.
“My father looked at me and said, ‘Hush, child, we are going to get to our America,'” Omar said.

Omar Loves Trashing America
Rep. Omar is currently reportedly under investigation by multiple federal agencies for numerous crimes including, as Fox News has stated, “perjury, immigration fraud, tax fraud, student loan fraud, and possibly bigamy.”
But that news, or the time spent engaging in those activites, has never stopped Omar from having a moment or two to trash America.
- Omar said Americans were not smart enough to understand what Democrats are trying to do for this country.
- Claimed she actually loves this country more than natural-born citizens.
- She dismissed the 9/11 terrorist attacks as “some people did something” on that day.
- Suggested American foreign policy needs the “perspective of a foreigner.”
- Said living life in America “is an everyday assault.”
- Not a big fan of white Americans having any say in this country.
And, of course, Omar has said that many parts of the country she fled to as a child are “ignorant.”
Republicans use ignorance, according to Omar, “as a tool to stir up hate and division, and ignorance really is pervasive in many parts of this country.”
Senator Rand Paul previously offered to buy Omar a ticket out of the country.
“She has the honor of actually winning a seat in Congress and she says we’re a terrible country?” he said. “I think that’s about as ungrateful as you can get.”
“While I’m not saying we forcibly send her anywhere, I’m willing to contribute to buy her a ticket to go visit Somalia.”
Can anyone contribute to that purchase?
