Ilhan Omar Blames President Trump For Her Father Dying From COVID

Rep. Ilhan Omar blamed "criminal neglect" on the part of President Trump for her father tragically passing away due to the coronavirus.

Rep. Ilhan Omar blamed “criminal neglect” on the part of President Trump for her father tragically passing away due to the coronavirus.

Omar (D-MN) made the harsh accusations during a conversation with MSNBC.

“My father and over 300,000 people have lost their lives to Covid because of dangerous criminal neglect by Trump and his administration,” she said.

Nur Omar Mohamed passed away in June due to “complications from Covid-19.”

“No words can describe what he meant to me and all who knew and loved him,” the Congresswoman wrote in announcing his passing at the time.

Omar also seemed to suggest the President and/or members of his administration should be “prosecuted” for those deaths, citing a memo released earlier in the week by House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn.

Clyburn (D-SC) released the memo to the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis which alleged “political interference” by the Trump administration in their pandemic response.

“The documents released today reinforce the need for HHS to end its obstruction of the Select Subcommittee’s investigation into the political meddling that has hindered the nation’s response to this deadly virus,” Clyburn said in a statement.

“Unless the Administration abandons this flagrant obstruction, I will be forced to start issuing subpoenas,” he threatened.

Omar doesn’t believe that will suffice.

“I agree with Clyburn that it is not enough for us just to issue subpoenas, we have to investigate and prosecute these people who are responsible for these reckless deaths,” she said.

Omar’s Response to the Pandemic

Omar was criticized back in March for suggesting all private hospitals be forced to become public in response to the pandemic crisis.

“Here is maybe a radical idea to deal with some of the pressures our healthcare system is facing,” she tweeted. “All private hospitals should be made public for the duration of the virus.”

She also called on government action during the crisis to include the cancellation of all student loan debt. Which, of course, has nothing to do with the virus.

Omar, during that same time period, shockingly offered praise to President Trump regarding some economic policies in response to the pandemic which she described as “incredible and the right response in this critical time.”

“Unprecedented times require unprecedented leadership and we are seeing that in our country right now,” she added.

Nine months later, Ilhan Omar has accused the same man of being responsible for the death of her father.
