Homicide Records Broken In 12 Large Cities In 2021 – All Democrat-Run

Homicide Records Broken In 12 Large Cities In 2021, Common Thread: All Democrat Run

The skyrocketing murder rate isn’t just your imagination. 12 large American cities have broken homicide records for 2021.

Coming in at the top of the dubious list is Philadelphia with a whopping 521 murders. This surpasses even New York City with 443 as of Dec. 5, and Los Angeles at 352 as of Nov. 27.

But all 12 of these cities has one common thread, they are all run by Democrats.

Murder In Democrat Cities

Even places that are not talked about often, like Rochester, New York, has broken a 30-year record for homicides this year.

But Rochester comes in on the low end of the scale. Joining Rochester in the broken-record-murder-club is Toledo, Ohio; Columbus, Ohio; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Austin, Texas; Louisville, Kentucky; St. Paul, Minnesota; Portland, Oregon; Tucson, Arizona; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Back in November, when Philadelphia surpassed the homicide record set back in 1990, Mayor Jim Kenney said, “It’s terrible to every morning get up and have to go look at the numbers and then look at the news and see the stories. It’s just crazy. It’s just crazy and this needs to stop.”

It’s unclear if the criminals all surrendered and stopped committing crimes after Kenney’s announcement.

Reasons Behind The Spike

Several things have been blamed for the sharp spike in homicides across the country in 2021. While the pandemic gets much of the blame, other factors such as the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis in 2020 and the following unrest and cries to defund the police.

The hue and cry of the ‘Defund The Police’ movement caused a rise in retirements and resignations among the nation’s law enforcement officers. A survey from back in June of the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) a shocking increase  of retirements at 45%, and 20% increase in resignations in 2020-2021, up from the previous year.

Honorable Mention

St. Louis currently sits at 178 murders, down from the 2020 total of 263. But in a bit of irony for St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones back in October, while speaking at a round table discussion with Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas about gun violence in their cities, gunshots rang out.

In Philadelphia, victims and their families are desperate for any kind of help. Stanley Crawford sent out the call for help when he spoke with Fox News.

“If you say that this is not a warzone, If you say this is not a crisis, either your inhumane or your humanity has left for you. We need help in the city of Philadelphia. And again, I don’t care where it comes from. It can come from the National Guard. It can come from any source.”
