An as-of-yet identified hockey coach has gone viral for a locker room speech in which he tells his players that kneeling for the national anthem is not an option, and anyone who disagrees can “get the f*** out.”
During the speech, hockey players have gathered around in pads and uniforms, appearing to prepare for a game or practice.
The coach notes that he is under the assumption being respectful toward the national anthem won’t be a problem in their sport, and even takes a shot at attention-seeking kneelers such as former football player Colin Kaepernick and U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe.
“We’re not women’s soccer. We’re not the NFL,” the coach begins. “If there’s anybody here who is going to be disrespectful to either the American or the Canadian national anthem, grab your gear and get the f*** out now because you’ll never see the ice in this arena.”
Amen, brother.
“We don’t have that problem in hockey,” he added. “We’re better than that but there was no sense in wasting anybody’s time if that s*** was going to happen.”

It sounds like the coach knew this was a team rule and explaining it to the players was viewed as a formality.

Hockey Coaches Rule
This isn’t the first time a hockey coach has made headlines for mocking anthem kneelers and explaining that this kind of thing doesn’t happen in their sport.
Coach John Tortorella told his Team USA World Cup hockey team in 2016 that if they planned to show solidarity with Kaepernick, they might want to think again.
“If any of my players sit on the bench for the national anthem,” Tortorella told the anti-flag network ESPN, “they will sit there the rest of the game.”
These coaches are doing what U.S. Soccer should have done with the petulant, arrogant, unpatriotic Rapinoe in the first place.
Women’s Soccer Embarrasses the Country
Rapinoe, who has kneeled in the past and used other forms of protest during the World Cup, definitively announced that after helping her team to victory, she is “not going to the f***ing White House.”
“I’m not going to the f***ing White House,” she responded. “No. I’m not going to the White House. We’re not going to be invited … I doubt it.”
President Trump has been nothing short of gracious to the women’s soccer team, celebrating with the rest of the nation as we watched their path to victory.

“I love watching women’s soccer,” Trump said. “They’re really talented.”
When asked, he opined that Rapinoe’s anthem protest was not appropriate. He offered that opinion rather respectfully.
Rapinoe, like Kaepernick, has a chip on their aggrieved shoulder, however. They feel they’re victims of oppression, though they continue to thrive because of their country, not in spite of it.
“I’ll probably never put my hand over my heart,” she said. “I’ll probably never sing the national anthem again.”
And you should never be named the captain of any national team again. Perhaps this hockey coach can explain why.
