Hawaii Dem Sending Fund-Raising Emails During Ford Testimony

In case you needed any more confirmation that Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations against future Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh are being exploited by Democrats for political gain, they’re using her testimony to fund-raise.

Within a half hour of Ford’s testimony, Hawaii’s Senator Mazie Hirono (who is present at the hearings) was already sending out emails to fund-raise for Democrats ahead of the midterms.

Given that the goal of elevating these unsubstantiated allegations of sexual misconduct is so Democrats can push back the Kavanaugh confirmation vote indefinitely (or past the midterms at a minimum), it only makes sense that Hirono is trying to raise money for Democrat candidates. While Republicans can simply replace Kavanaugh with another nominee if needed, Democrats would like to push the vote back past midterms in hope of winning back the Senate (though the prospects are bleak).

“I am about to ask you to make a donation to support my re-election campaign before the FEC fundraising deadline on Sunday,” Hirono’s fund-raiser read. “Here’s the main reason: I am spending every minute of my day fighting the Republicans who are desperate to rush Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination and deny a fair investigation into the credible sexual misconduct allegations against him. This has to be my focus. I am going to continue to prepare and demand a throughout investigation into these claims.”

Hirono also says she’ll investigate the other barely-credible accusers to waste even more time.

Ford contradicted her previous statements a number of times during her testimony today. Yesterday, we learned from Ford’s lie detector test results that she contradicted the original account she gave The Washington Post. She initially told Senator Feinstein that she was with four others. But her polygraph test says she was with four boys and a couple of girls. Now Ford says there may have been more boys or girls in the house during the time of the party.

Ford also contradicted an excuse she gave in trying to get out of testifying – a supposed fear of flying. As it turns out, Ford flies all time.

Ford also said she told “beach friends” (how specific!) about her allegations, contradicting prior statements that she’d only told her therapist about them.

Hirono is one of the few Democrats that’s at least been transparent about their motives. “I think we’ve had those kinds of [Supreme Court] vacancies before, and we certainly had over a one-year vacancy with Merrick Garland,” Hirono said on MSNBC after Ford first came forward. “So the world does not come to an end because we don’t fill all of the nominees.”

If Democrats get their way, this confirmation process will literally take years. A vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation is set for tomorrow, and if Republicans don’t vote in his favor, it may be a Democrat Senate that dictates who his eventual replacement will be.
