Greg Abbott’s Office Mocks ‘Hypocrite’ Eric Adams After NYC Mayor’s Xenophobic Rant About Illegals ‘Destroying’ The City

The office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott responded to New York City Mayor Eric Adam’s dire prediction that illegal immigrants are going to “destroy” the city by branding him a hypocrite.

Adams, a one-time sanctuary city fanatic, has been very critical of the federal government ever since Texas began actually sending illegal aliens to the city that never sleeps. It’s almost as if he had to experience the crisis first-hand to gather an appreciation.

Governor Abbott has obliged, sending roughly 13,000 illegal aliens since August.

Adams, in a rant during a Town Hall meeting on the Upper West Side earlier this week, predicted the invasion would leave the city in financial ruins.

And the Democrat Mayor says he doesn’t see the problem ending any time soon.

“Let me tell you something, New Yorkers. Never in my life have I had a problem that I did not see an ending to. I don’t see an ending to this,” he worried.

“I don’t see an ending to this,” Adams repeated. “This issue will destroy New York City. Destroy New York City.”

Adams Worries Illegal Immigrants Will ‘Destroy’ NYC

Adams went further with his comments, casting blame not on the open border policies of the current administration, but on the man who is trying to provide the illegal immigrants with sanctuary by sending them to New York City.

“What happened? It started with a madman down in Texas, decided he wanted to bus people up to New York City,” Adams said.

He then complained about all of the services his city must provide to aid the illegal aliens and warned that “we have to push it out into neighborhoods and communities.”

Now you’re getting a taste of what border states like my own have been complaining about for a very long time.

Abbott’s press secretary Andrew Mahaleris released a statement calling Adams out as the hypocrite he most clearly is.

“The hypocrisy of Mayor Adams is astounding. Mayor Adams was proud to tout his self-described sanctuary city status until Texas began bussing migrants to New York City to provide relief to our overrun and overwhelmed border communities,” he said.

Mahaleris pointed out that New York City only has to deal with “a fraction of what our small border communities deal with on a day-to-day basis.”

He went on to also point out that Democrats complaining about illegals in their “sanctuary” cities are focused on the bussing from red states when President Joe Biden “has been flying planeloads of migrants all around the country and oftentimes in the cover of night.”

The Political Insider reported on those “clandestine” flights of migrant children into New York state last year. Oddly enough, Democrats didn’t accuse Biden of human trafficking or demand criminal charges.

Sanctuary Denied

Mayor Adams, up until Texas started bussing illegal immigrants to New York City, had often bragged about providing a “sanctuary city.”

“New York City will remain a sanctuary city under an Adams administration,” he boasted.

“We should protect our immigrants. Period,” he said in 2021.

When one of the first busses arrived, Adams was there to greet the arriving illegal immigrants and even celebrated New York City’s “Right to Shelter” law.

“As the mayor of New York, I have to provide services to families that are here, and that’s what we’re going to do – our responsibility as a city, and I’m proud that this is a Right to Shelter state, and we’re going continue to do that,” he said.

Surely he knew then, like he knows now, that doing so would “destroy” the city.

Six months after the influx of illegal aliens to New York City began, The Political Insider reported that Adams had been turning around and sending them to the frozen border of Canada.

Some sanctuary that is.

Earlier this summer, Adams announced that his city would start distributing fliers at the southern border to discourage illegal aliens from coming to New York.

Now Adams is warning residents that “we’re about to lose” the city.

“Until President Biden steps up and does his job,” a defiant Mahaleris said, “Texas will continue busing migrants to sanctuary cities to provide relief to our overwhelmed border towns.”

The hypocrisy of the left never ceases to amaze.
