Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is reportedly upgrading security at her residence, installing a perimeter wall or fence and other security measures at a cost of $1.1 million.
The Detroit News reports that “crews have been working to build what appears to be an eight-foot-tall fence around the governor’s residence property.”

Whitmer spokeswoman Tiffany Brown said that the security upgrades are routine and would “ensure the safety, security and protection of any sitting governor and the first family.”
The money will come from the executive office budget which is funded by Michigan taxpayers.

Just a reminder that Democrats hate guns, walls – and in her case, seeds, American flags, church, and the ability to work – unless it’s for themselves

Fan of the Wall
Building a wall and making somebody else pay for it sounds vaguely familiar. But don’t confuse Whitmer with being a fan of security for anybody but herself.
During her 2018 gubernatorial victory speech, she accused President Trump of trying to divide the nation by protecting the nation’s southern border.
“In a time when people in Washington want to divide us building walls … we in Michigan want to build bridges,” she celebrated. “We chose bridges over walls.”
Looks like she’s choosing walls again.

“$40 BILLION for the wall,” Whitmer whined a year earlier. “Think how many kids that would educate, how many roads, bridges and pipes it would fix.”

Another Dem Hypocrite

Perhaps Whitmer feels she needs security after protesters in April gathered around her residence to voice their displeasure with her draconian pandemic lockdown orders, all while her husband ignored her guidelines.
Perhaps she needs to keep out DOJ investigators probing her administration for “requir(ing) nursing homes to admit COVID-19 patients to their vulnerable populations, often without adequate testing,” and causing numerous deaths.
Or perhaps she doesn’t want others to be able to peer into her windows and see she’s watching Shark Week.

Whatever the reason, she is a Grade A hypocrite for complaining about border security for Americans while providing border security for herself.
But she’s not the only one.
In 2017, Barack and Michelle Obama began construction of what NBC News described as “a fence-like wall” around their $8 million home in Washington, D.C.

They’ve since upgraded to a mansion on 29 acres of waterfront property in Martha’s Vineyard.
More recently, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot set up a perimeter around her home, banning protesters on the entire block from which she lives.
“Understand I have a right to make sure that my home is secure,” she said.

Meanwhile, Lightfoot hints that it’s okay for protesters to destroy property in Chicago. Obama denounces border security as xenophobic. Whitmer allows rioters to loot businesses in Grand Rapids.
And they do it all from behind their own walls, fences, or security systems.
