House Speaker Kevin McCarthy went viral for presenting a masterclass in exposing journalistic hypocrisy while answering questions regarding the GOP’s position on the latest Trump indictment. While attempting to discuss the apparent weaponization of the Department of Justice, Speaker McCarthy calmly connects for the young reporter her network’s culpability in the weaponization of government through their questionable hiring practices.

Bringing up the reliance CNN has on “expert” contributors like disgraced former FBI director Andrew McCabe and equally disgraced former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, the Speaker illustrates to an apparent junior and possibly clueless young reporter that CNN is the pot that is calling the kettle black.

Check it out in the below exchange:

Ouch, that’s quite the embarrassing verbal takedown. Let’s dive into that more.

Check Yourself

In the viral takedown of CNN, Speaker McCarthy opens up with the obvious statement:

“The idea of equal justice is not playing out here.”

He proceeds to bring up CNN’s employment of Andrew McCabe and James Clapper just to get interrupted by the young reporter, who goes in for what I’m sure she believes is an excellent gotcha question, asking:

“The former President is accused of misleading law enforcement and conspiracy of obstructing justice that’s a different set of facts. Are you prepared to defend him as the former President and what other actions will the House take?”

While I usually detest when people answer a question with a question, in this particular instance, it was sheer gold as Speaker McCarthy countered with:

“Are you prepared to defend your network, CNN? Even though your network hired Andrew McCabe, who was fired from the FBI for leaking classified documents, did you remove him from your network? No, you continue to put him on to give judgment against President Trump.”

The reporter, either unaware of what he’s talking about, or too biased to even consider the question, tries to plow ahead. Speaker McCarthy wasn’t having it:

“So, your network hires Clapper, who literally lied to the American public – one of 51 other individuals that had briefings and used it politically to tell the American public that a laptop was Russia collusion, even though it had all this information about the Biden administration.”

Oh man, in the words of Ice Cube, you better check yourself before you wreck yourself, CNN.

The Real Problem

The Speaker ends with:

“I have a real problem that your network actually pays people who did classified information and then lied to the American public to try to influence a presidential election, and then you put them on your network to give an opinion.”

If you look at CNN’s ratings, I think it’s fair to say the American people also have a problem with their rampant hypocrisy. Mr. McCarthy has remained steadfast in his support of President Trump and his disgust for this latest clear double standard in the justice system.

He said after the indictment announcement:

“It is unconscionable for a president to indict the leading candidate opposing him. Joe Biden kept classified documents for decades. I, and every American who believes in the rule of law, stand with President Trump against this grave injustice.”

He went on to cap off his statement with this threat:

“House Republicans will hold this brazen weaponization of power accountable.”

That last bit remains to be seen. However, Kevin isn’t the only Republican handing CNN the business.

Doing What Exactly?

This weekend GOP Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy got into a heated back-and-forth exchange with CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.”

Mr. Ramaswamy explained that the reason people should be, at a minimum, curious, if not skeptical, of this indictment on President Trump is because:

“The Department of Justice reports to the President of the United States…which is why I think the media needs to get to the bottom of this.”

When Dana tried to argue that the media has no reason to believe there is some collusion between the Biden administration and the indictment of the opposing political party’s front-runner for President, he goes on to say:

“With due respect, I think it is shameful that I, as a competitor to President Trump in this race, have to ask questions that the media isn’t asking.”

Vivek punctuates his point by stating that one of the fundamental problems in our country is rooted in our media itself:

“Let’s actually restore journalism in this country. That is what is actually missing, is getting to the truth.”

Dana attempts to defend herself and her fellow CNN comrades by hilariously saying:

“We know how to be good journalists because we do it every single day.”

That’s what you guys call your daily drivel? Or CNN is trying its hand at comedy because that line is pure comedic gold.

The Bright Side

The left-wing media would love to paint a picture that Republicans are only claiming a double standard in justice due to their undying love of President Trump. After all, Republicans have been “brainwashed” by the big bad orange man, and Ronald Reagan is actively rolling in his grave over the sorry state of the Grand Old Party.

However, the weaponization of the Department of Justice isn’t born out of just the relentless pursuit of Donald Trump. One merely has to look at the uneven investigation and prosecution of pro-life protestors versus pro-choice protestors to see the tipping of the scales.

Let’s not forget the bizarre targeting of Christians and parents concerned about what is happening in the public schools they send their children. Donald Trump is merely yet another of many examples of how our country has been made into a banana republic, one starting to emulate many of the countries I was forced to deploy to when I was in uniform.

The one positive that might come out of this is perhaps we are seeing the slow death of CNN. Between getting shwacked in the ratings by Matt Gaetz’s guest host appearance on Newsmax to the ousting of former CEO Chris Licht for trying to make the network unbiased, the once beloved 24/7 news channel is on its last few breaths.

A slight silver lining, I suppose.
