Ellingson Found Dead

TMZ reported that Ellingson’s body was found in his bedroom at a sober living facility that he had been residing in. While his cause of death has yet to be released to the public, officials do not suspect any foul play at this time.

Ellingson’s death was confirmed by his father Michael, who said that while his son had struggled with drugs in the past, he had been doing better in recent years. Michael added that Ellingson’s death has come as a major shock to the entire family. Daily Mail reported that his older brother Austin tragically died of a drug overdose back in 2008.

Ellingson’s Hollywood Career

Born in Los Angeles in 1988, Ellingson got his first acting job at 13 when he appeared in an episode of the soap opera “General Hospital.” From there, he scored guest spots on shows like “Titus,” “That Was Then,” “Mad TV,” “Complete Savages,” “Bones,” “24” and more.

When it comes to television, however, Ellingson will be best remembered for playing the character of Kyle Harmon on 18 episodes of “CSI: Miami” from 2007 through 2010. This character was the son of the show’s star Lt. Horatio Caine, who was famously portrayed by the seasoned actor David Caruso, and it allowed Ellingson to be featured in seasons 6-8 of the hit show.

Ellingson also appeared in movies like Walk the Talk, Letters from Iwo Jima, The Bondage, Confession, Rules of the Game, Time Changer, The Gristle and more.

Ellingson’s most famous movie role came in 2009, when he starred in the film My Sister’s Keeper alongside Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, and Abigail Breslin.

“Anna Fitzgerald looks to earn medical emancipation from her parents who until now have relied on their youngest child to help their leukemia-stricken daughter Kate remain alive,” the film’s IMDB description reads. Ellingson played the older brother of the two sisters, and he was featured prominently in the star-studded film.

Breslin Honors Ellingson

In the wake of Ellingson’s death, Breslin spoke out to pay tribute to him.

“Evan Ellingson was a kind, funny and extremely talented human being,” she wrote on Instagram. “He played my big brother in a film I did called My Sisters Keeper. Evan was a genuinely thoughtful person who cared so much about turning in the best performance, which he accomplished.”

After admitting that she didn’t keep in touch with Ellingson after filming their movie, Breslin stated that he always remained in her mind and offered prayers to his family.

“Evan, I know Heaven will welcome you with open arms,” she concluded. “Your time on this earth may have been, devastatingly, short. Your humor, exuberance, kindness and bright light will linger forever. Sending you peace on your journey to the great beyond and who knows… maybe one day, I’ll meet you in Montana.”

Ellingson Leaves Hollywood

Ellingson left the world of Hollywood after his final “CSI: Miami” appearance in 2010, and it is unclear what he had been doing in the years since then. In a 2009 interview, Ellingson opened up about what it was like to grow up in the acting world.

“I never had the same childhood experience with my friends,” he said. “I never had more time with them.”

“However, my childhood was a cool one. I was busy doing the things I love,” he added. “I had no regrets because I found my passion for acting early on.”
