Another piece of the puzzle comes together.

The more we learn about the FBI’s unprofessional behavior regarding the infamous Trump dossier, the more we learn just how rotten to the core the agency was under James Comey.

Last month, we learned that Comey may have been trying to set up Trump by discussing the dossier, which was funded by the Clinton campaign and the DNC, with the then-President-elect. The FBI was aware CNN had possession of the dossier and was looking for an impetus to report it. Comey, by briefing Trump, was consciously or unconsciously giving the network that very opportunity. (RELATED: Did James Comey Try To Set Trump Up on Salacious Dossier?).

Not long after Comey’s meeting with Trump, CNN broke the story that the FBI Director had briefed the President on a sensitive matter. Mere moments after the CNN report, BuzzFeed released the dossier to the world. (RELATED: Who is Really Behind Buzzfeed’s Anti-Trump Article?).

In a media environment that moves faster than a flea on thin hair, that’s all old news. Now we have a new revelation on the whole dossier-CNN-FBI saga. This time, it comes from Sean Davis of The Federalist, who is pointing out that the FBI was in discussions with CNN about the dossier before the Comey meeting.

Davis reports:

Newly revealed e-mails show that former Federal Bureau Investigation (FBI) deputy director Andrew McCabe was keenly aware of CNN’s internal understanding of a secret briefing about the infamous Steele dossier, days before CNN published any stories on the matter. The e-mails, which were obtained by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), also reveal that top officials used coded language to refer to the salacious and unverified allegations made by Steele.

So why is this significant? There doesn’t appear to be any law-breaking done.

Here’s why it matters: Until this point, we’ve been led to believe that CNN and the FBI barely discussed the dossier, which was the crux of the ongoing Mueller investigation. Now we know the Bureau and the network had long had discussions on the matter, and FBI officials knew CNN would go live with the story.

Here’s the million-dollar question: Why are we just learning all of this two years after the fact? Why must emails be subpoenaed to learn all of this?

What else is the FBI hiding?
