Tesla CEO Elon Musk insists the United States must increase oil and gas production as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, noting that these are extraordinary circumstances that the fuel industry is better positioned to handle.
“Hate to say it, but we need to increase oil & gas output immediately,” he tweeted. “Extraordinary times demand extraordinary measures.”
They also demand common sense, which Musk seems to be in great supply of while President Biden struggles in that department. Musk goes on to note that such a move would be detrimental to his own interests – his electric car company – but maintains it is necessary.
“Obviously, this would negatively affect Tesla, but sustainable energy solutions simply cannot react instantaneously to make up for Russian oil & gas exports,” he continued.

Elon Musk to Biden: Produce More Oil
The Tesla CEO went on to explain that the United States isn’t in a position at this moment of time to focus on an industry that might be more environmentally friendly but not quite as prevalent for use in all areas.
“Increased oil & gas production in the short term is critical or people around the world will be placed under great duress,” he tweeted.
“This is not a question of money, it is a question of having enough energy to power civilization.”

Is President Biden poised to listen and increase oil and gas production as Elon Musk suggests? It doesn’t seem like it.
Biden has resisted bipartisan calls to ban Russian oil imports saying it would increase already skyrocketing gas prices. On Sunday however, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the United States was considering such a ban.
“We are now in very active discussions with our European partners about banning the import of Russian oil to our countries while, of course, at the same time maintaining a steady global supply of oil,” Blinken said.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg suggested the administration is considering buying oil from Iran.

Even more remarkably, Axios is reporting that President Biden’s advisors are considering a trip to Saudi Arabia to “convince the Kingdom to pump more oil.”
If only there were some other nation, much closer to the United States and her interests that could unleash oil production and open up pipelines and drilling leases.
I can think of at least one.

Musk Slammed Biden During the SOTU
Elon Musk recently slammed President Biden for failing to acknowledge Tesla’s role in producing electric cars here in the United States.
Biden tweeted an excerpt from his speech that outlined investments being made by Ford and GM in America.
“Tesla has created over 50,000 US jobs building electric vehicles & is investing more than double GM + Ford combined,” Musk wrote in response.
He added a quick jab: “FYI to (the) person controlling this twitter.”

Musk has spent months now mocking Democrat lawmakers on Twitter, ranging from Senator Elizabeth Warren to Senator Bernie Sanders.
He blasted Warren as “Senator Karen” after the Massachusetts Democrat accused him of not paying taxes and essentially being a “freeloader.”
Musk also took a jab at the curmudgeon Sanders, tweeting that he “keep(s) forgetting that [Sanders is] still alive.”
