Trump Readies Veto Over Border Wall

This will be the defining veto of Donald Trump’s presidency – if he chooses to use it, that is.

Mike Allen of Axios broke the scoop this morning:

A senior administration official said Tuesday night that President Trump “will veto any bill that doesn’t advance his common-sense immigration reforms” — a hardening of the White House bargaining position as the Senate begins an epic debate.

Trump’s common-sense reforms include the package he offered Congress earlier this week that includes DACA-style amnesty for minors brought here illegally in exchange for, among other things, building the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

This is fantastic news! Trump ran for president on taking a hardline when it comes to immigration. “Build the wall!” was the rallying cry heard ’round the nation. Now it’s time for Trump to deliver on his promise, and hold Democrats’ feet to the fire.

There is no going back. There are no do-overs. Trump either fights for the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, or he loses his re-election bid in 2020. Simple as that.

The White House is already pushing back on Democrats refusing to even consider Trump’s offer. One Administration official told Axios: “Democrats are selling out American workers for open borders … [T]he White House is making it clear that the Republican Party is the party of American workers.”

One Senate Democrat responded to this, saying, “Republicans are in charge of Congress, the President ended DACA, and if deportations come, it’ll be Donald Trump’s ICE agents doing the deportations.”

If the Trump Administration orders deportations, they will be totally justified. People illegally in the country shouldn’t be here. Period.

President Trump is prioritizing the needs of Americans over those who shouldn’t be here. Democrats, meanwhile, don’t give a fig about people residing illegally in our country. They’re the party of lawlessness and open borders.

It’s about time that President Trump kept his promise on immigration. Don’t you agree?
