There’s a clear double standard when it comes to the consequences celebrities are facing for their controversial tweets.

While a Leftist, for the most part, Roseanne Barr did express support for President Donald Trump in 2016 and had some conservative themes when her show “Roseanne” briefly returned to the air. All it took was one tweet where she said that former Obama Adviser Valerie Jarrett looks like the “Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes had a baby.” Most perceived the comment as racist, while Roseanne said she didn’t know Jarrett was black and thought she was Iranian. Jarrett brushed the comments off. (RELATED: ‘Roseanne’ Canceled on ABC After Crude Tweets).

Regardless, Roseanne still lost her show for the remark, which she’d also blame in part on Ambien.

Meanwhile, Peter Fonda’s comments yesterday were in a league of their own. In a now-deleted tweet, the actor wrote “WE SHOULD RIP BARRON TRUMP FROM HIS MOTHER’S ARMS AND PUT HIM IN A CAGE WITH PEDOPHILES AND SEE IF MOTHER WILL WILL STAND UP AGAINST THE GIANT ASSHOLE SHE IS MARRIED TO. 90 MILLION PEOPLE IN THE STREETS ON THE SAME WEEKEND IN THE COUNTRY.”

In another tweet, he said (in all CAPS) that people should surround the houses of ICE and Border Patrol agents, and then find out where their children go to school so they can be harassed as well.

Fonda later apologized for the tweets after it was reported the Secret Service was investigating them, but he routinely makes over-the-top posts like this. The day before his tweets about Barron, Fonda expressed his opinion that Sarah Huckabee Sanders needed her children to be kidnapped and that Sec. Kristjen Nielsen should be caged and “raped in public while being filmed.” (RELATED: Melania Trump’s Office Confirms Secret Service Was Notified About Threat to Barron).

And for that disgusting series of comments, he will face no real consequence.

In response, Donald Trump Jr. slammed Fonda, and called out Sony ahead of the Friday release of Fonda’s new film “Boundaries.” He also referenced Peter’s sister’s traitorous activities in Vietnam back in the 60s.

Will you be boycotting the film?

I’d say that I am, but I never had any plans to see it in the first place. Unlike liberals, conservatives don’t engage in childish public boycotts, but maybe it’s time to reconsider that tactic given the vicious comments by liberals like Fonda.
