DeSantis Rips Media Over Coverage Of Maskless Super Bowl Fans: ‘You Only Care If It’s People You Don’t Like!’

Florida governor Ron DeSantis laid into the media over their focus on some Tampa Bay Buccaneer fans for having celebrated the team’s Super Bowl victory without masks.
This past weekend, Tom Brady, at the age of 43, led the Bucs over the Kansas City Chiefs, becoming the first NFL team to win a championship in its own stadium.
The city celebrated while the media looked at the fans with scorn. Video had, after all, emerged showing revelers forgoing coronavirus precautions by celebrating maskless and in close proximity.
Leading the lecture circuit was Tampa Mayor Jane Castor who called the videos “frustrating” after “putting the executive order in place that masks had to be worn in specific areas.”
“Those few bad actors will be identified and the Tampa Police Department will handle it,” vowed Castor.

Ron DeSantis Flattens the Media For Super Bowl Mask Hypocrisy
Governor Ron DeSantis was asked at a press conference if he was concerned that Tampa Bay fans weren’t adhering to mask orders and COVID restrictions ordered by the mayor of Tampa.
“The media’s worried about that, obviously. You guys really love that,” the Florida Republican quickly shot back.
DeSantis then noted how the media doesn’t seem all that concerned about the pandemic when it comes to BLM protests, Antifa insurrections, or celebrating their preferred political candidate.
“You don’t care as much if it’s a ‘peaceful protest’… and then it’s fine. You don’t care as much if they’re celebrating a Biden election,” he quipped. “You only care about it if it’s people you don’t like.”
“So, I’m a Bucs fan. I’m damn proud of what they did on Sunday night,” DeSantis added.

DeSantis Dispatches the Media With Ease
DeSantis has repelled the media and their bias with such ease of late that it almost seems like an unfair fight.
Last month, he excoriated a CNN reporter after she attempted to ‘give a speech’ rather than ask a question about the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in his state.
He absolutely mauled the media back in May when they tried to suggest Florida was being irresponsible in handling the pandemic while New York had done things right.

In regards to the Super Bowl, he had the following epic response when he was asked about wearing a mask at the event.
“Someone said, ‘Hey, you were at the Super Bowl without a mask,'” DeSantis said. “But how the hell am I going to be able to drink a beer with a mask on? Come on. I had to watch the Bucs win.”

DeSantis has been rumored as a candidate for the 2024 presidential election. He left that door open in a recent interview.
If nothing else, his Trump-style replies to the media will be worth it.
