On Saturday, Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal delivered a speech and presented awards at a party associated with the Communist Party USA. Blumenthal told the audience he was “really excited” and even “honored” to do so.
Blumenthal is reportedly the 5th wealthiest member of the Senate, who is worth approximately $82 million.

Sen. Blumenthal To Communists: ‘I am really excited and honored to be with you today’
Connecticut’s Blumenthal attended the event hosted annually by the Connecticut People’s World Committee, a branch of the Communist Party USA.
Blumenthal attended as a surprise guest to present the group’s annual “Amistad Awards.”
The Yankee Institute reported Blumenthal saying to the audience, “I am really excited and honored to be with you today and share in this remarkable occasion.”
Blumenthal touted the Biden administration’s Build Back Better spending bill and other progressive agenda items.
“There’s a lot to be working for in economic justice, in racial equity, in establishing a $15 minimum wage,” Blumenthal reportedly said.
Blumenthal also bragged about “holding corporations accountable for the basic treatment of the American people.”
“We need to look at our entire tax system, beginning with Build Back Better,” the senator said.
The Free Beacon reported, “Blumenthal was introduced at the event by Lisa Bergmann, a Communist Party member who blamed corporations for the ‘imperialism that exists in our world that is undermining the labor and environment.”
“Bergmann and her fellow communist emcee, Ben McManus, issued invitations at the ceremony to join the Communist Party,” the Free Beacon noted.
“If you are not already part of the Communist Party, we invite you to participate and contribute and join,” Bergmann said after Blumenthal’s speech, according to the news outlet.

Event organizer: ‘I’m a member of the Communist Party, I love it’
“There’s more and more people talking about socialism in this country as it becomes more and more clear that capitalism is not going to work for our future,” Bergmann added.
“I’m a member of the Communist Party, I love it. I think it’s an amazing organization,” Bergmann also said Bergmann.
Bergmann serves as an organizer for the Young Communist League USA.
