Representative Dina Titus, a Nevada Democrat, says colleagues from her own party who failed to draw congressional maps to favor her reelection ‘totally f***ed’ her.
Titus believes the redistricting process was fumbled by Democratic Governor Steve Sisilak and the blue Nevada legislature.
“I totally got f****** by the legislature on my district,” Titus told an AFL-CIO union hall according to the Nevada Current. “I’m sorry to say it like that, but I don’t know any other way to say it.”
In an amusing twist, Titus isn’t upset with the integrity of the redistricting process rather, she’s upset her colleagues didn’t gerrymander the districts in her favor.
Rep. Dina Titus (D-Nevada):
“I totally got f—ed by the Legislature on my district… They could have created two safe seats for themselves and one swing. That would have been smart… No no, we have to have three that are very likely going down.” https://t.co/UYwbVuPkcw— Phil Kerpen (@kerpen) December 16, 2021

Rep. Dina Titus Complains
The Democrat Party consistently accuses Republicans of gerrymandering districts in states where they control the legislature and denounce it as a threat to democracy.
Sometimes they say it’s racist.
It wasn’t all that long ago that former President Barack Obama announced he would help his party by “combating partisan gerrymandering.”

Titus, however, is livid that the gerrymandering of congressional maps by the Democrats in her state benefitted other races for her party, but not hers.
“They could have created two safe seats for themselves and one swing. That would have been smart,” she said. “[Democratic Rep.] Steven [Horsford] and mine and then a swing. No no, we have to have three that are very likely going down.”
“You read that the Republicans are using gerrymandering to cut out Democratic seats, but they didn’t have to in this state,” she complained. “We did it to ourselves.”

Titus’ Foul Mouth
This past October, Democrats in Illinois unveiled a new congressional map that significantly impacted Representative Adam Kinzinger’s (R) chances of winning in 2022.
And after everything he has done for that party. The nerve.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Kinzinger would have had trouble winning regardless of what happened with the gerrymandering. Still, it was only after the lines had been redrawn that he announced he would not run for reelection.

Titus’ expletive-laced complaints weren’t the first time she’s gone on a foul-mouthed rant.
In 2019 she called on Congress to impeach then-President Donald Trump. Except her words weren’t quite that measured in tone.
“You know, frankly, I think the House is going to do it and I’d like to impeach the bastard right now,” she said.

Trump was indeed impeached by the House one month later on overblown charges and strictly along party lines. The ‘bastard’ was acquitted in the Senate, however.
