Dem Congressman Who Represents Lower Manhattan Has No Issue With Omar’s 9/11 Comments

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), a representative whose district encompasses the lower west side of Manhattan, says he has no issue with Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) description of 9/11 being carried out by “some people [who] did something.”

“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” Omar said at a California fundraiser for the controversial organization.

CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Nadler if he “take[s] any issue with the way Omar characterized 9/11.”

Nadler responded bluntly, “No, I did not.”

We’d have to imagine that a majority of New York’s 10th Congressional District would disagree.

No Issue

Omar, in other newly surfaced video clips, also mocked those who say the names of terrorist groups in a menacing fashion, while also managing to equate America, England, and the U.S. Army to organizations such as Al Qaeda and Hezbollah.

Does Nadler have a problem with that?

Nadler fleshed out his defense of Omar, saying “she characterized it only in passing.”

That’s the problem, Jerry. She dismissed it as a trivial event and not the most traumatic terrorist attack ever carried out on American soil. In YOUR district!

“She was talking about discrimination against Muslim Americans,” he continued. “And she just said after that happened it was used as an excuse for lots of discrimination and withdrawal of civil liberties.”

“I’ve had some problems with some of her other remarks, but not with that one,” Nadler added.

Moral Authority

In other interviews, Nadler attacked President Trump as the problem, claiming he has “no moral authority” to criticize Omar’s comments because he accepted a development grant in the aftermath of the attack.

The President tweeted a video of the Minnesota extremist’s comment interspersed with clips from the actual terrorist attacks on 9/11, adding the caption “We will never forget!”

“He wasn’t president then, but Donald Trump actually took a $150,000 grant from the Bush administration,” Nadler said, implying that the then-real estate developer should not have accepted a grant for development in the area.

Donald Trump actually warned the nation of a possible terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in his book, “The America We Deserve,” one year before that tragic day.

“I really am convinced we’re in danger of the sort ofRep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), a representative whose district encompasses the lower west side of Manhattan, says he has no issue with Rep. As President, he refused to mince word on last year’s anniversary of the attack.

“Since September 11, nearly five-and-a-half million young Americans have enlisted in the United States armed forces,” Trump said to a mostly positive response. “Nearly 7,000 service members have died facing down the menace of radical Islamic terrorism.”

Radical. Islamic. Terrorism.

Not just ‘some people.’
