On Thursday, financial talk radio show host Dave Ramsey criticized President Joe Biden’s proposed coronavirus relief package, saying that the stimulus checks included in it is like “peeing on a forest fire.”
Appearing on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” Ramsey was frank with host Bill Hemmer about the problems he sees with the aid and direct payments.

Blunt Dave Ramsey
“There are some situations where folks are hurting and this thing has gotten completely out of hand. I mean, there are people’s lives who have been destroyed by this program,” Ramsey said.
“Somebody needs some relief somewhere,” Ramsey continued. “I’m fine with that.”
But Ramsey insisted the package was more about politics than actually helping Americans.
“But this has nothing to do with really helping people,” Ramsey insisted. “This is a political gimme by progressives simply trying to buy votes.”
Ramsey went on, “We know that because when you go from $10,000 in forgiveness to $50,000 in forgiveness the people who benefit are not lower income people.”
“The vast majority of people that have an average income or less have less than $10,000 of student loan debt,” the radio host continued. “The vast majority of people who would be blessed by moving it from 10 to 50 are high income earners.”
Dave Ramsey: "I don't believe in a stimulus check. If $600 or $1400 changes your life, you were pretty much screwed already. You have a…debt problem…a mental health problem…it's throwing $ out there. It's peeing on a forest fire."pic.twitter.com/Yk1TYskAqy

Ramsey: ‘If $600 Or $1400 Changes Your Life, You Were Pretty Much Screwed Already’
“So again, this is all political rhetoric,” he said. “It’s not reality.”
Hemmer then asked Ramsey how much he thought the stimulus checks should be.
Ramsey did not hold back.
“Well, I don’t believe in a stimulus check because if $600 or $1400 changes your life, you were pretty much screwed already,” Ramsey bluntly said.
“You’ve got other issues going on,” he continued. “You have a career problem, you have a debt problem, you have a relationship problem, you have a mental health problem.”
“…if $600 or $1400 changes your life, you were pretty much screwed already.”
AGREED! Dave Ramsey makes an excellent point for MORE federal relief. $600 ain’t changing lives… Newsflash! We’ve been “pretty much screwed” for almost a year… pic.twitter.com/Us9jqeCeof

‘It’s Peeing On A Forest Fire. It’s Absolutely Ridiculous’
Ramsey swore he was not talking down to people.
“Something else is going on if $600 changes your life,” Ramsey said. “And that’s not talking down to folks. I’ve been bankrupt. I’ve been broke.”
“And I work with people everyday who are hurting,” he said. “I love people. I want people to be lifted up.”
“But this is, again, it is just political rhetoric and it’s just throwing dollars out there,” Ramsey finished. “It’s peeing on a forest fire. It’s absolutely ridiculous.”
