Dan Crenshaw Defends ICE Against ‘Crazy’ Attacks by Ocasio-Cortez

Republican Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw excoriated Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for spewing “craziness” by alleging ICE operates under a ‘racist’ premise that “Latino immigrants” are dangerous.

The New York socialist made the comments in question on social media, one of many which were designed to protect her colleague, Rep. Ilhan Omar, from charges of anti-Semitism by diverting attention to other alleged instances of bigotry.

“Where was the concern last week when 26 Dems voted for a GOP amendment to expand ICE powers rooted in the racist + false trope that Latino immigrants are more dangerous than US born citizens?” Ocasio-Cortez falsely declared.

First, ICE is designed to enforce immigration laws no matter what the country of origin. Second, nobody believes immigrants are more dangerous, but do believe that illegal immigrants have committed a crime and as such, are more prone to commit other crimes such as identity theft. And third, keeping violent gangs, terror threats, and illegal drugs out of the country – also, not racist.

The measure Ocasio- Cortez is referencing is a bill to expand federal background checks for gun purchases. It included a provision requiring ICE to be notified if illegal immigrants attempt to purchase guns.

A total of 26 moderate Democrats joined Republicans on the measure, agreeing illegals probably shouldn’t be allowed the full advantages of the Constitutional right to bear arms since they committed a crime to get into America in the first place.

Crenshaw Hammers Her

Crenshaw, speaking with Fox News host Martha MacCallum, tried to unpack Ocasio-Cortez’ comments.

“Even if she actually believes what she is saying, that has nothing to do with condemning anti-Semitism, right?” he explained. “Two things can be true at once, okay. Even if she believes this craziness.”

“The reality is that enforcing the law is not racist, okay?” Crenshaw, who lost an eye as a Navy SEAL in Afghanistan, added. “Asking ICE to report when an illegal immigrant is trying to buy a weapon is not racist.”

“That’s just enforcing our laws and I think most Americans want us to enforce our laws,” Crenshaw surmised.

Most Americans, yes. Most Democrats, no. The resistance party prefers lawlessness to law and order.

Crenshaw and Ocasio-Cortez Have Tangled Before

Crenshaw and Ocasio-Cortez have traded barbs in the past, with the former taking a shot at her proposed 70 percent tax rates during the Super Bowl, and the latter saying only owners who supposedly “refuse to hire [Colin] Kaepernick” would.

He has also proposed debating his fellow freshman colleague, saying he’d ask questions of Ocasio-Cortez that “you wish journalists would ask.”

“When you’re throwing out such radical ideas, asking for a little bit of explanation is probably the best way to debate them because there is no explanation,” Crenshaw said in a January interview.

“These are not well thought out ideas. I don’t like being hyperbolic in my language, but they’re dangerous. They’re dangerous ideas.”

One can only hope Ocasio-Cortez one day accepts the challenge to debate. It would be devastating for the socialist movement currently infecting the Democrat party.
