In a new video, Sen. Ted Cruz goes after legislation introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that would ban fracking across the country.
A Fracking Ban Would Be “Economically Devastating”
“We are currently experiencing an American energy renaissance with the United States having now become the number one producer of oil and the number one producer of natural gas on the planet,” Cruz explains in his video. The USA is now energy independent for the first time in a long time, and also an exporter of energy to the world.
However, those on the left want to put a stop to this.
“We need to put an end to fracking, not only in New York and Vermont, but all over this country,” Sanders told a campaign rally. Elizabeth Warren told a crowd that by 2030, there will be “no more cars,” and “by 2035, no more production of electricity.” According to Ocasio-Cortez, the world will end “in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,” while Pete Buttigieg compared Republican “climate denial” to as if “one party disagreed with the other party on whether it was a good idea to treat cancer.”
Two of those four individuals, Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez, worked together with Rep. Darren Soto and Sen. Jeff Merkley, to put together the “Ban Fracking Act,” in both the House and the Senate, which would “institute an immediate federal ban on all new federal permits for fracking-related infrastructure… by 2021,” and ban all fracking by 2025.
Cruz slammed the bill and other anti-fracking policies as being “economically devastating,” as it would cost “14 million jobs nationally and in the state of Texas would cost one and a half million jobs.” Cruz explained that the climate movement is “dangerous” as it is now “an emotional, primal scream, rather than being driven by science.” He noted that those who are advocating supposed action on climate change “are also advocating for massive government control of the economy” and socialist policies.
“Climate is a good excuse to say, ‘You’ve got to have socialism, or else all of humanity is going to die’,” he added.

Natural Gas Production is Good for the Environment!
Ironically, fracking actually leads to lower carbon emissions, something that the eco-left should surely be in favour of! Fracking has resulted in an incredible shift from coal powered production to natural gas-powered production,” Cruz said last year.
“Nothing – no socialist regulator, no Paris deal – nothing has had anywhere close to having an impact on carbon emissions as has a Texas oil man innovating fracking and moving away from coal to natural gas,” he continued, adding that this way was the way to “address the environment through innovation that also produces jobs.”
A recent report by the International Energy Agency (IEA) said that the USA “saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis,” putting it down to natural gas increasing its share in electricity generation to a record high of 37%, beating out coal-fuelled power stations. Cruz celebrated this in a tweet: “FACT you will NEVER see on the 6 o’clock news: U.S. emissions FELL 2.9%, or by 140 million tons, continuing the trend of the United States LEADING THE WORLD IN TOTAL EMISSIONS DECLINE since 2000.”

Cruz has it spot on when he pointed out that everyone who is against fracking wants to push socialist policies. The green agenda is an absolute smoke-screen to push a far-left, authoritarian government onto us in the name of doing good.
