Breaking: Court Docs Show Medical Examiner Thought George Floyd Had ‘Fatal Level of Fentanyl’ In His System

New documents filed in the case involving the death of George Floyd show the medical examiner’s opinion that the victim had a potentially fatal level of fentanyl in his system.

One document is a memorandum of a conversation between a court attorney and Andrew Baker, the Hennepin County chief medical examiner.

The conversation included statements that the fentanyl levels in Floyd’s system were “pretty high” and “can cause pulmonary edema.”

The document includes, “This level of fentanyl can cause pulmonary edema. Mr. Floyd’s lungs were 2-3x their normal weight at autopsy. That is fatal level of fentanyl under normal circumstances.”

“[Baker] said that if Mr. Floyd had been found dead in his home (or anywhere else) and there were no other contributing factors he would conclude that it was an overdose death,” the document reads.

A Lethal Dose of Fentanyl

The attorney for Thomas Lane, one of four officers charged in Floyd’s death, has requested that charges against his client be dropped based on a theory that the victim overdosed on fentanyl.

Lane has been charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.

A court document filed last week argues that there is a white spot on Floyd’s tongue in the body camera video that later disappears. Lane’s attorney claims it looks like “2 milligrams of fentanyl, a lethal dose.”

“All he had to do is sit in the police car, like every other defendant who is initially arrested. While attempting to avoid his arrest, all by himself, Mr. Floyd overdosed on Fentanyl,” the filing reads.

“Given his intoxication level, breathing would have been difficult at best. Mr. Floyd’s intentional failure to obey commands, coupled with his overdosing, contributed to his own death.”

More to the Story

It’s certainly a good thing that the media didn’t jump to conclusions on a story that has led to massive riots and crippled cities for months.

Just kidding. That’s what they did. Instead of waiting for facts to come out, they built their own narrative about killer cops.

And the result has been numerous deaths due to the rioting, and many businesses and property destroyed.

Fox 9 also reports:

In one memorandum filed May 26 after a virtual meeting with Baker, the Attorney’s Office said Baker concluded, “The autopsy revealed no physical evidence suggesting that Mr. Floyd died of asphyxiation.” Baker told the attorney his investigation was incomplete pending a toxicology report, however.

Handwritten notes from the day after Baker spoke with the court attorney show he had shifted his opinion somewhat.

“If he were found dead at home alone [and] no other apparent cause, this could be acceptable to call an [overdose],” the notes read.

It adds that Baker said, “I am not saying this killed him.”

The media have been in lockstep in presenting this as a cut and dry case of police officers murdering an innocent man. They’ve even gone so far as to blame President Trump.

It’s clear from these court filings that the situation was, and is, a lot more complicated.

Still, an additional document reveals the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System agreed that a combination of factors – including police action – contributed to Floyd’s death.

“His death was caused by the police subdual and restraint in the setting of severe hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, and methamphetamine and fentanyl intoxication,” they state.

“We concur with the reported manner of death of homicide.”
